Chanticlear Pizza - Grill — Restaurant in Maple Grove

The food and service is great at this restaurant! I've recommended it to several friends and family that said the food was great and they were excited to have another sit down choice in another area of Maple Grove. The owner really does care about providing quality product and good service. As with any new business, especially a restaurant, there are a few growing pains to making it a well oiled machine. Timing of seating, ordering, food preparation, delivery and most importantly being able to adjust when big rushes come in. For anyone that hasn't been in this industry, it's not an easy one AT ALL, especially in it's infancy. We live in a society that often has unrealistic expectations. If your expectations are good quality food and portions, family friendly, nice place to catch a drink, please be patient while they sort out the kinks. If you want fast cheap pizza then Little Caesars is probably a better option for you. I've been to the same restaurant near me several times and once in awhile the meal gets screwed up. I know the restaurant is great and if they fix the mistake no harm no foul. I just went to a brand new restaurant in Albertville and the service was really, really slow, and the food came out slow at different times, but I understand their goal is to figure it out. Strip mall pizza/bar joint that reminds me of Davanni’s or Broadway Pizza, but I’m sorry as others have pointed out the service here is terrible... horrible. It’s pretty normal to wait and stare at the bartender or waitress for 20+ minutes while they are hobknobbing with regulars or texting on their phone or just spaced out. It’s worse than Walgreens a few blocks away. I’ve been here 4-5 times and experienced this with Janelle at least twice, and others. The first time she apologized profusely and asked if I “hated” her because of it but the second time we kinda know what her habits are. It would get old for her to apologize that much every hour and every night.

And the last time I was there she made me call an Uber at bar closing because I had a couple Long Island drinks (and nothing else) but the guy next to me, a regular, was there since noon and could barely walk, and he stumbled into his big truck while I waited outside for a Uber. She was fine with that. So, I just stopped coming.

They have some good happy hour specials though. The pizza is okay. And the place is usually pretty packed for such a small place. Apparently they’ve started axe throwing. Not sure if that’s under same ownership. I might give it a try someday. As Mama G’s tries to get away from the late late night crowd and places like Chops and JCs have closed, Chanticlear has an opening. I would like to see more bands play and other entertainment. We got to chanticlear at about 5pm and sat ourselves as the sign said. We waited 25 mins before someone took our drink and appetizer order and that was only after a member of our party of 3 went to find a member of wait staff. The 4th person in our party arrived 10 mins later and placed their drink order. After 20mins their drink had not come to the table. I approached the bar to ask if we could get the drink our table was waiting on and our server was taking shots with a customer. I have no problems with people letting loose at work take shots i don't care, but we'd been waiting almost an hour and our food order hadn't been taken and we were waiting on drinks. Tables that had been seated after us had already recieved their food. Our appetizer came after we'd been there for about an hour and 15 mins. Our server came as we were almost done with our appetizer to take our food orders. We opted to not place a food order not wanting to wait another hour. We observed another server also taking shots as another member of our party approached the manager to see if someone could help us out. It was all very unprofessional.
