I visited Sal & Joe's for the first time today, even though I've only lived 5 miles from it for over 20 years. TBH--I never knew it was there! Now that I do, it will be my go-to for local pizza.

Please understand: this review is about pizza, and pizza only, since my husband and I went for lunch and that's what we both ordered. Let me say--we eat a lot of pizza. Probably too much, but we both REALLY like it! We will drive well over an hour to our favorite spot down the shore (Sam's, on the Wildwood boardwalk) and often more than 30 minutes to another great spot we love in Browns Mills, Riccardo's. But, we finally have a LOCAL place that will be our new go-to! The pizza at Sal & Joe's has a thin, crispy crust (just how we like it) and is full of flavor. I had a plain slice and a white with broccoli. So good! My husband had a pizzette with pepperoni, which he thoroughly enjoyed. If you're the type of person who has to have a Coke with their slice--like we are--you will not be disappointed! The fountain Coke is the perfect mix of syrup and carbonation. IYKYK...

Sal & Joe's will be our new...

I use to come here quite frequently but over time I stopped coming. The last time was several weeks back and I was reminded why I haven't been back. On the plus side, I find the food to be good, to a point. When I get spaghetti, the sauce is too watery for my liking. I prefer a pasta sauce that is not watery. I have always been happy with any non pasta meal that I have gotten here. The food is pretty good, in my opinion so this is a plus and the portions are on the larger side.. The reason that I stopped coming is due to the service. The last several times that I came here, I was with my family. Each time the waitress that I had presented us with an attitude. We are not picky when it comes to ordering. With the cost of the meals, we can do without the attitude. If we asked a question we were met with an attitude, and the same if we needed something like extra napkins or something else. Even when the food was brought over, and we gave a polite thank you, we were responded to with an attitude. For this reason, we...

FOOD Typical pizza and restaurant options. Meals include garlic bread, soup and salad. Cream of mushroom was tremendous; not watery like most, with just enough salt. Garlic bread which is my Achilles Heel was meh! The seasoning and garlic butter was haphazardly spread. Saved me space for the excellent main course. Chicken Parm. Always my go-to in a new restaurant for me. This did not disappoint. Nice portion, Chicken was tender, sauce (or gravy) flavorful, over a plate of capellini, which in itself did not disappoint. Tender pasta which did not clump together. BYOB.

SERVICE Thank you Robin. Pleasant, friendly, and super efficient.

ATMOSPHERE It looked a bit nicer than your typical strip mall pizza place from outside; colorful signage. Inside, the decor was cute and homey. It was bigger than I expected and the booth the four of us were seated, was roomy. We were sat quickly. Mid-week summer. I'm told it's a line out the door in the non-summer months. Guess I'll be bringing a book, cuz we'll...

Come on y'all. You gotta go to Sal & Joe's Pizza in Maple Shade, NJ. I mean this is the 2nd time I had some of their food. I tasted some of the Clams in White Sauce as an appetizer that my co-worker had one day and I fell in love. I had to make sure to go get an order of my own as soon as I could. It was very tasty. I mean it is seafood and it is the best. All I needed was some bread to sop up the sauce but it's ok I handled it. I drank all the juice. Don't judge me! Lol. I got my money's worth. It was a simple appetizer but it was banging ( it was great for those who are pondering the word 'banging', lol).Maple Shade is #foodhaven.

Great neighborhood eatery with an extensive Italian cuisine. Tonight we continued on our journey to find the best Chicken Parm and Pasta Pescatore. Good. But not outstanding. What is outstanding is that you get Garlic Bread, House Salad and Soup of the Day before your entree! I’m stuffed! The Lentil soup and the Zucchini soup were excellent. The House Salad comes with house dressing or creamy Italian. Both are light and fresh. No room for Tiramisu or Cannolis so better take that home!
