Kretch's Restaurant — Restaurant in Marco Island

Update 12/18: We have been to almost every rated restaurant on Marco Island since the time I wrote the review below, and in many cases including Kretch's we have returned multiple times. Kretch's (along with Fins Bistro and Island Cafe) is among our three favorite places on Marco Island. Consistently excellent fresh seafood, friendly and attentive service, and some creative menu options (must try the Seafood Strudel) that are very well executed, make Kretch's our go to for dinner, preferred over much more expensive restaurants on the island. They also offer a "cook your catch" that is very fairly priced and excellent, especially recommend the blackened option if you have snapper in your catch!

Friendly neighborhood restaurant vibe, plus perfectly cooked classic seafood entrees. Attentive and personal service. The "VEAL" Oktoberfest Special my wife and I ordered this afternoon was not sauteed but twice extra deep fried, the sweet mollasses sauce (normally reserved for pork), sweet cinnamon spice on unrecognizable fruit/perhaps pear slices and sweet red cabbage (a no no no for not only diabetics but any health conscious person; along with rock candy hard deep fried -Russian like potato pancakes were all out of place an killed all taste of the veal and ruined our anniversary. Feedback given for all of the above negatives via the waitress that works at Susie's Place in the Marco Mall were not acknowledged by the owner nor any apology provided. Kretch’s was founded in 1986 and it’s got an authentic local feel. Pictures inside are from that era, and it’s just a great place to be.

This was by far our best dinner on the island. Tuna bites were great. Burgers were great. Mushroom caps were great. Lobster-cargot (lobster served escargot style) was awesome. Mushroom caps were awesome. Everyone loved their food. It had a great family atmosphere, and our children were all welcome with children’s menus and plenty of crayons and extra coloring paper.
