I recently visited Donna's Kitchen in Coconut Creek, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. As someone who appreciates a good home-cooked meal, I found this spot to be a hidden gem that delivers on both flavor and comfort.
Ambiance: Donna’s Kitchen has a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. The decor is simple and cozy, with a focus on creating a relaxed dining environment. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind and enjoy a meal without any fuss. The space is clean and well-lit, with a casual vibe that’s perfect for both solo dining and small gatherings.
Food: The food at Donna’s Kitchen is the true star of the show. The menu is filled with comfort food classics, all prepared with a homestyle touch that’s hard to find these days. I ordered the fried chicken, which was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside—exactly how it should be. The sides, including mac and cheese and collard greens, were rich and flavorful, with that unmistakable homemade quality. They also offer a variety of daily specials, which keeps the menu interesting and fresh. For dessert, I couldn’t resist trying the peach cobbler, and it was the perfect ending to a satisfying meal—sweet, warm, and utterly comforting.
Service: The service at Donna’s Kitchen was friendly and attentive. The staff made sure we felt welcomed and taken care of throughout our meal. Despite the steady flow of customers, our food arrived promptly, and our server checked in regularly to ensure we had everything we needed. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in what they do, and it shows in their genuine hospitality.
Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the restaurant was also notable. The dining area was tidy, with tables being promptly cleared and cleaned between customers. The open kitchen area looked well-organized, and the restrooms were clean and well-stocked, which is always a good sign of a well-maintained establishment.
Overall Experience: Donna’s Kitchen is a wonderful spot for anyone looking for delicious, hearty food served in a comfortable and welcoming setting. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic Southern meal or just want a place to enjoy some good food with friendly service, this place is a solid choice. It’s the kind of restaurant that feels like a second home, and I’ll definitely be back to try more of their menu.
P.S. gotta try the Oxtail and Brown Stew Chicken,...

So this morning, my boyfriend and I went to get breakfast at Donna's in Margate as we often do. The server said we could get a combo for $6.99. A regular small breakfast was $10.99. Thinking that the combo was a mini version where you get to pick two entrees, we both got combos. Wrong. When we got to the register, the bill was $40.62 for a two person breakfast. A small breakfast for two normally costs us $23.52.
Had the server clearly explained prior to starting the order that the combo means an additional charge on top of the regular breakfast cost, I wouldn't have gotten it. We left there without breakfast. Sad, because the server recognized us as regular customers and did nothing to amend the order. Saying they would have to throw the food away.
So what happened to the customer is always right? You apologize for the misunderstanding and fix the order instead of wasting food.
My boyfriend never wants to buy food here again because of this experience.
Review from 2 years ago:
This review is based more on the efficiency of this location and not so much the food itself as I visit this location most often so I like the food enough to keep coming back.
The line to make orders starts close to the entrance. They should have it like the location on Powerline with the order line farthest away from the door. On busy days, most of the traffic at the 441 location is clustered right in front of the door.
Have an online or printed menu that clearly states what soup is available on which days. The menu should also indicate what time the lunch special ends.
And please consider introducing phone orders. If I can order Chinese, or 🍕 on the phone, I should be able to order delicious Jamaican food this...
Read moreThis restaurant has the rudest staff EVER! Let me describe my lunch experience there briefly. I called and asked if they had brown stew fish. I was advised that they do. When I got there, the menu price reflected $12.49, which is a bit higher than other places for a fish meal but still not so outlandish to stop me from satisfying my graving. I order the fish.
When I get to the register, the cashier gives me the total as $16.95. I kindly informed her that she must have made a mistake, that the sign said $12.49. She rudely informed me that the price had been raised to $15.95 (never mind the fact that the $12.49 price was already taped over an older, conceiveably lower price).
I retorted by pointing out that their menu still had the $12.49 price and explained that I would never have ordered the fish if I knew that it was so much more expensive than other places. I mean, come on, $16.95 (I guess that was the price after taxes) for a fish meal at a rundown, hole-in-the-wall? Really? Her response? "Well, what ya gonna do? You want it or not?" Well, when you put it that way, NOT! I left and will NEVER go back. I was with a friend who had already purchased the jerk chicken meal, which she threw away because it was so dry and probably left over from the day before.
I might tolerate the bad service if the food was any good but the chicken is so dry it could choke a chicken! Save your money. Go to Golden Krust, which is right around the corner in the Publix Plaza on Sample. They have juicy chicken, friendlier staff and much much better patties. Let's not even get into the fact that they're much cleaner as well. Donna's looks like a shack in comparison. No, I'm not a Golden Krust employee, just a...
