Where to begin… I made reservations at Austyn’s a week before hand and specifically requested a booth. Arrived about five minutes early to our reservation and we are seated at a table in the back of the restaurant next to the kitchen and the bathroom. Not sure what the reason was for this. Open table in the front of the restaurant as well as two booths. We sit for about seven minutes and in this time nobody speaks to us at all. Hostess is sweet/apologetic and comes over to correct her mistake after about 11 minutes. We are moved to a booth, in which we sit for another five to seven minutes before anyone even says hello. We are stared at by patrons which makes the situation even more uncomfortable. We honestly were about to leave but the server came to us right before we got our things together.

Server takes our drink order, and asks if we would like an appetizer. We ordered the Gouda Mac, which was good. Worth $10? Questionable. But good nonetheless.

After some time, we were asked if we wanted to order, and we did. Blackened Mahi Mahi and a Medium steak. After about twenty minutes we were brought salads. They were good, veg was fresh and presented well. Bread was… bland. Butter/spread tasteless aside from obvious garlic note.

Food comes out after another wait (not too long). Presentation was okay. Nothing special. Steak was fine. Mahi Mahi incredibly over cooked and chewy. I ate half of the portion but I couldn’t do the rest. Just gross. Wasabi mash was… interesting? Not good, not bad. Wouldn’t order again.

Waited for a check for over 15 minutes. At this point we wanted to just leave. We are from out of state and wanted a nice dinner while here for work. Will never return if we are back in the area. Very uncomfortable environment for people of color. Nobody said anything untoward but sometimes you don’t have to. You feel the vibe and the...

Sad!! We enjoyed seeing and chatting with two great servers at Austyn's. We would request them when making reservations. They were always extremely happy, going the extra mile and all around great individuals. Austyn's is blessed to have them! The food was awesome also! Unfortunately, I (We) will never give Austyn's any business again! On 8/6/2021 approx. 3:30PM EST, I called to verify if masks are still required, because Austyn's website states "mask required" and it possibly may not have been updated. Upon calling, a female associate answered my question "not if I was fully vaccinated". Then, I asked how is Austyn's proving individuals are vaccinated. The female associate responded with, "Individuals are required to show a vaccination card and it is not a HIPAA violation". My response was I (We) will not be making reservations or visiting Austyn's again. This information was posted on social media. The female then chimed in on Facebook stating she never said that. I could state her name, but she knows what she stated at that time and day. Also, if the female associate did not say this statement why didn't I (We) make reservations and enjoy walking Marietta, OH during the city event that night? We never had any issues with Austyn's until 8/6/2021 at approx. 3:30PM EST. I (We) did however enjoy great food and atmosphere, with No questions asked, at Harmar Tavern in the Harmar Village across the Muskingum River from downtown Marietta, OH.
