How are you cash only in 2025? A square reader costs $10.
EDIT: Originally the above was my entire review, and it was a 1 star review at that. But then I found some cash in my car and came back in and actually tried the food.
With no exaggeration, these are the best hot dogs I have ever had in my life. I wanted to hate on them so bad because I STILL think it's whack they are cash only, but the dogs are just that dang good. Juicy but not sloppy, soft but not squishy, snappy but not tough, spicy but not overwhelming, perfect in every way.
And usually toppings are, at best, a distraction, and at worst, a deal breaker. But the decent amount of chili they put on the chili dog introduced a savory moisture to the experience. I am used to buns being a total loss when you get a chili dog (it just comes with the territory) but whatever magic buns they used somehow kept their composure under the wet toppings yet still remained pleasantly light and fluffy. The coleslaw they use on their slaw dog isn't much to write home about, unfortunately. If I were you, I would just get the chili dog with cheese, and maybe 3 of them. I also got their fried apple pie with their hefty scoop of vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was (for lack of a better word) creamy, which sadly overshadowed the crunchy and sweet apple pie. I would get the two separate next time.
And with these prices, you can easily do that. You will be hard pressed to find any full meals for under $10 in this day and age, and yet a single hot dog with all the fixings costs less than $3 (as of this writing, which is still saying something). A fancy shmancy place downtown could charge $15 per dog for hot dogs half this quality and get away with it.
The service was down to earth and attentive. We came during what must have been their rush hour and we still got seated immediately, our order was taken in less than 3 minutes, they followed my weirdly complicated order to the T, and they even waited until I was done with my hot dogs to bring out my apple pie. It was a pleasant dining experience, which I did not expect. And the food didn't take that long to come out, probably less than 10 minutes. Which is impressive when you consider that this was during peak hours.
There really isn't any ambience to speak of. You are in a small shack with locals from all walks of life. People eat their food and leave. It looks a bit run down, but one man's "dingy" is another man's "rustic".
This place is not perfect, in spite of what my stars say: CASH ONLY (I cannot stress enough how much of a pain this is, and we almost left without eating there because of this) Not open on weekends, and short hours on weekdays Limited parking, with no extra parking options nearby no ATMs or banks nearby, so you better come prepared with cash in hand or else you just can't eat here
But overall, those negatives aren't quite enough to sour the entire experience. And that's a glowing enough review as is, because those are some HEFTY negatives. But the dogs are fantastic, the prices are insanely low, and you can get fed within a lunch break. I might come back, but if this place took cards in any way I would...
Read moreCASH ONLY. You hear that? CASH ONLY! If the 2 signs at the front didn't clue you in, I did. I used to live over in Marietta, and blissfully drove right by this place, wondering how it was always so busy. "ew" "gross" and "I can't believe people like hotdogs so much" were my daily thoughts as I cruised by, no idea what I was missing. I was not much for hotdogs as a kid. I finally heard some hearsay about this place being really great. I then peaked at the reviews, all pretty good. I figured I owed it a try, I almost never turn down a new place to eat. So I drove over truly looking forward to it. And holy guacamole was I blown away! Parking is something of a luxury here, it is scarce. You can order to go (skillfully wrapped with care), or sit down. There is also a welcoming shady picnic table which has a big tree above. Menu items are simple. The hot dogs have an awesome kick, and so does the chili. I say go all the way, get the chili slaw dog and have them toss in a slice of cheese. Speaking of the slaw, its really good. Nice small easy to eat pieces which fit well on the dogs. Great sweet and tangy flavor (This must not be their first rodeo). I rarely enjoy sweet tea, but to my amazement, it was really great sweet tea here! Not too sweet, nice flavor. Frings are a thing if you can't decide between either fries or rings (Just ask, it's not listed). I got a burger and a dog, and I find myself shocked to say next time, I am only getting the dogs, loaded. I was afraid to trust hot dogs again, but Brandi's made me a believer in a quality dog with a good taste. Very low prices! Very quick service, and incredible food. So stop by, and treat yo self. The ladies here are nice, and ready...
Read moreThis is nothing to write home about or even tell your friends or coworkers about. I guess the tiny building that is meant to hold 15 to 20 but has 40 to 50 in it is supposed to be charming? I'm not sure. The parking lot is atrocious! It should be at least twice the size as it is if not larger to accommodate the people inside. Some were parking in places that obviously aren't spots and could block others.
What no one tells you (and there are no signs) is to seat yourself if you can find a spot and they will come to you. The only problem is there is only a handful of seats and many waiting to sit and no one seems to be in a rush to leave even after they have eaten. While I was there there were 2 tables that after they had finished talked for an hour while 20 other people were wanting to sit so they could eat.
Once you do get food, the three main foods they seemed to have were burgers, hot dogs with 3 or 4 toppings and fries. And of course a drink. That's fine.
I waited about 30 mins to get a spot to sit then another 15 or so before the waitress showed up. I ordered 3 chili dogs to eat. It was well over 30 more minutes before they came out. When I ordered it I thought it was more than I could eat.It wasn't which was fine because I had told her when I ordered that I may want to order something else at the end. She didn't come back though to check on me or see if I wanted anything else.
As far as the chili goes they warn you that it is spicy, which it is but not very. Some there seemed to think it was really hot but I thought it barely registered as spicy. The chili also had extremely small or fine pieces of beef and was more thin and watery like soup...
