Beware incorrect billing. We were billed $4,400 for a regular no complications outpatient office visit vasectomy. This procedure should have cost somewhere between $600-800 according to our insurance (Anthem BCBS) per local and national averages. It's been a huge pain trying to appeal with WellStar and it get it corrected and they are insistent that this is the correct cost for a regular office procedure.
My husband just had a regular vasectomy here about a month ago (5/2022), no complications (took about a total of 20 minutes) and was a regular outpatient office visit. We were billed $4,400. We had no idea we were going to be billed this much. They charged us $3,500 just for the room the procedure took place in, which was a regular doctor's office exam room (like the ones you go to for your annual physical, the ones that can barely fit 3 people in total, has an exam bench with the roll of white paper, a stool for the doctor and 1 computer) apparently according to this clinic, this is a hospital operating room for major surgery which is why we were charged so much. Go anywhere else for your procedure and save thousands of dollars. They have been completely unhelpful in getting this corrected insisting that this was indeed a hospital surgery in an operating room…. So go to another provider who will bill it correctly as an outpatient office procedure. With the money you save not going here, you can pay your rent for a few months, buy a year’s worth of groceries or gas, put a down payment on a really nice car with the money, etc. Don't make our...
Read moreI recently read the bad reviews concerning this practice. I have a much different opinion after visiting due to a first time kidney stone. Upon scheduling the team was able to slide me in the very day I called looking for the appointment. They asked where I lived and purposefully matched my address to the closest office. Then the scheduler carefully explained it would be a two part process...first being the x-ray and second would be the actual consult. She made sure to tell me what to bring and what I should expect. She then directed me to the website where I could start the paperwork prior to my arrival.
After arrival, my referral from my primary care provider was not in order. They were not annoyed or dismissive. The office staff sat down with me and went over what we needed to do to get on the right track concerning the referall. I then was x-rayed and was seen by Dr. Schmidt. He was open, concerned and spent a lot of time discussing options and the actual results of my x-rays. He then took me into his office to show the change from the Cat Scan I had 3 days prior to what the office x-rays showed. He was clear, concise and spoke plainly on what we were looking at. This office does not have the frills and "toys" in the waiting area that others may have, but truthfully I dont mind. I would rather see the money spent on good staff and doctors rather than in the waiting room. Well done...
Read moreDr Murphy Townsend was referred bymy primary care physician and I feel klike a lottery winner. Dr townsend's attention to my condition makes me feel like I am the only patient he attends to. His personality and demeanor have made what could be a nerve wracking diagnosis seem more like a mild inconvenience. His explanations of tests and procedures are on the par of a cleric or wise professor. He does not force or pressure, rather he explains all facets with care and understanding and tries to make sure the lay person [me] understands the many trearment options that are available. I have never felt talked down to or talked at. His answers to questions are insightful and caring. He also passed the wife test. She feels as I do. I couldn't be under better care during my diagnosis [prostate cancer]. By the ay I don't usuually do reveiws because I feel if you can't say something etraordinary then it isn't worth my time. I am writng this because I fee with Dr Townsend I will he the most...
