So, I had never been here before but my boyfriend loves the fish and chips so I agreed to go and try it out. I just expected more from them when it comes to customer service. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and the menu does not specify whats in the hop-n-john mix I ate a little of the wrap and I immediately had to vomit. When I returned I ordered a sprite and I asked the server if I could send it back and have it made without all the hop-n-john mix since it didn't sit right with my stomach and majority of the food hadn't been touched. She looked at me and said we can remake it but we'd have to charge you for both because the menu states there's hop-n-john in it. I said ma'am what is that ? The menu doesn't even say what it is and you didn't bother to explain it. She said yeah I know but that's just our policy. I politely said okay thank you, took pictures of my food and the menu, and sent my food back as is. My boyfriend paid, we left, and grabbed me food from somewhere else. To me it's just sad that you still made us pay for something that wasn't satisfying to the customer and refused to remake it. I had no problem paying but at least try to make it right or offer me something different if your still going to charge me.

For me, this place gets 5 stars for what it is, a local hole-in-the wall with cheap good eats, late into the night, fire out back, and solid place to take out-of-towners for a local experience and vibe. I also recommend the whiskey tasting, which we did with a sausage tasting pairing. There are several different options offered for private tastings if you message them on Facebook, and Gary, the owner is very accommodating. We had a great time, and it’s one of my top 5 unique Atlanta food and beverage experiences under $50 per person. I like sitting out by the fire on a cold night with cheap drinks and getting a $7 pizza when everything else is shut down, or getting their fish and chips, tater tots, or a stellar burger. I wish they would bring the fried green tomatoes back. This is also the kind of place that’s fun to hit before or after a bougie night out doing a wine tasting or fancy dinner at Spring or Hamp and Harry’s to keep the night going.

Jonnie MacCrackens has gone so far downhill it's ridiculous that they're still in business!! This place is dirty and distasteful. A server with blonde and purple hair actually had the audacity to throw a glass at my head as I was leaving all because there was nowhere to sit down. I had one terribly made drink and upon giving her the empty glass and exiting the building my glass came flying out if the door and hit a parked car. Shards of glass actually hit my DD and other people who witnessed this were is awe. Take your money elsewhere. There is no real management at this establishment, only an old man that owns it and claims that you either "tip or die". I have been in the food industry for around 9 years and this is extremely unacceptable. Terrible, terrible place. 🤢

We visited MacCrackens for a casual evening with friends, hoping to enjoy some drinks and unwind. The experience took an unexpected turn when we approached the bar attended by Fagan F. While my husband ordered drinks with her, she abruptly had security check all of our IDs, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere right after placing our orders.

Disappointed with Fagan's demeanor, we opted to order our drinks from another bartender. As we made our way back to our table, we were shocked when security, seemingly at Fagan's behest, decided to kick us out. The reason provided appeared to be concocted, and when we proved the error to the security personnel, their response was indifferent. He was very hostile and abrupt, not only was it embarrassing but discouraging as we brag about MacCrakens very often to all of our friends and family.

Despite demonstrating that we had indeed ordered our drinks legitimately, security insisted on ejecting us from the premises on the basis of Fagan’s theory of having an “outside bottle of Coca Cola that had alcohol”. After offering to search all of our belongings, the security insisted that we had to leave on the ruling of the bartender.

This arbitrary and unjust treatment left us not only frustrated but also questioning the professionalism and customer service at MacCrackens. The disregard for our experience, even after clarifying the misunderstanding, was disheartening and certainly tarnished what should have been an enjoyable evening out.

Again, we were extremely compliant and reasonable. We weren’t loud nor disrespectful. There was no discussion or opportunity to prove our innocence.

It was immensely embarrassing and...

Johnnie MacCracken's: Where the Fish is Excellent and the Pub is on Fire! 🔥🍻 Forget your average Irish pub; Johnnie MacCracken's Celtic Firehouse Pub is a destination built on history, good beer, and incredible food. Nestled right in the heart of the Marietta Square in the old Fire Station No. 1 (from 1885!), this place has layers of historic charm and a vibe that’s pure, fun chaos. We came for the pub classics and they delivered! The Fish & Chips were absolutely excellent—perfectly battered, not too heavy, letting the fish flavor shine. And that mysterious "egg" on the menu? That's their famous Scotch Egg, and it was YUM! It's the kind of classic pub grub that pairs perfectly with their massive selection of European draft beers (which they boast is the largest in Cobb County!). The atmosphere is cozy, eclectic, and full of character. With the historic memorabilia, holiday decorations up (you know I love the festive spirit!), and the friendly feel, you just want to sit down and "stay a spell." If you’re looking for authentic pub fare, a cozy firehouse atmosphere, and a place that truly celebrates history and humor, Johnnie MacCracken’s is the real deal! #JohnnieMacCrackens 🍻 #MariettaSquare #MariettaGA #CobbCounty #CelticPub #FirehouseHistory 🔥 #FishAndChips #ScotchEgg #PubGrub #IrishPub #EuropeanDraftBeer 🍺 #CozyVibes...

I like MacCracken's; it's been a good place to "retreat" when other bars (Two Birds) get too crowded. This is a good place to bring groups especially when the weather is nice so you can take advantage of the beergarden out back. MacCracken's also boasts the best beer menu on the Square, certainly in the top 3 in Cobb County. They have a great selection of Scotch/Whisky and do tastings as well. I'm told their Irish food is good, but I'm personally not a big fan. They have outdoor seating and I like to drop by with my dog from time to time.

Obviously this place goes nuts during St. Patrick's day; that's an alternate experience from the usual, for sure.

Unfortunately, MacCracken's has lost its luster as of late. If I were to describe the place in one word it would be "dingy", while the smoking area is downright gross. With the good service, cool 4-bar layout, and excellent beer menu, MacCracken's has all the ingredients of greatness. It's due for a major facelift/update though, and it's going to need it with competition like Glover Park Brewery moving in.

I'm giving MacCracken's 4 stars only because it's been good to me over the years. If this was my first impression I would give it a solid 3/5. I'm looking forward to a day when the owners have reinvested in MacCracken's so it can reclaim the "top spot"...
