All around bad experience. After being immediately greeted and seated as a one-top (party of one), my waiter brought my drink without the lime wedges I asked for. I finished my beverage (a can of Tecate) and half of my chips and salsa before the manager noticed that I was sitting with a menu on the edge of the table. If she hadn't asked if my order had been taken, I might still be sitting there, waiting for my waiter to come back. She took my order, a simple entree, another beverage, and another request for lime wedges and queso for the chips. I noticed her talking to the waiter and he quickly brought me lime wedges and another beverage, not saying anything as he sat them on the table and immediately went to check on other tables with multiple customers (and potential for better tips). I was just about to signal the manager to ask for the check to pay for what was on the table and leave without my entree when it arrived. I signaled her regardless and explained that I was just about to leave because of the poor service and that I still had not received my quest appetizer. She apologized and offered to comp the queso that had not arrived and offered a discount on my meal. I told her that wasn't necessary, but she insisted. My quest arrived minutes later, just as I was tasting a bland, uninspired, and almost watery-tasting "Enchiladas Supreme". It was gross. The queso, by the way, was watery and barely stuck to the chips. The best thing about the entire meal was my 2 cans of Tecate. (Don't get me started on serving it in cans and not bottles) I ate less than half of my entree and asked the waiter (after summoning him) for my check. The manager had comped the whole meal. Nice gesture, but not enough for me to ever go back and give them another shot. Now I'm off to find something to eat for the second time tonight. The attached photo is how I...
Read moreNOTE: This review has been edited to reflect the new addition of an outdoor patio, responses to it were originally attached to a positive review.
Although the food is not 1 star (however I feel the quality has degraded lately), this review is of the business as a whole: their patio addition is a mistake. While I'm sure the addition is going to be great for their business, it's really a nuisance to anyone who intends to, I don't know, USE the sidewalk?
While other businesses have found ways to accommodate outdoor seating without ruining the flow of foot traffic, Tampicos solution was to slap a big ol' barrier onto the majority of the sidewalk forcing single file lines.
Sure two people could sneak by each other when going in opposite directions, but what about two bikes? Two Wheelchairs? A bike an a wheelchair? Either way somone will either need to back out and let the other through, or hop off the sidewalk into the road. This design is a major PITA.
On top of the annoying obstructive design, management's response to concerns of it being in the way of bikers is that "Change is good and exciting" and how they welcome bikers...
Read moreI’m sad to say this place has declined in customer service. I just ordered from GrubHub, got the order from Tampico‘s which was incorrect and with no silverware to use. I called the restaurant to alert them and ask them to please make it right. 15 minute conversation followed between an assistant manager and a manager Who absolutely refused to do anything. They stated that they have only had one GrubHub order and it was not what I had ordered. I tried reasoning, alerting them that the driver did not go to another restaurant to pick up the exact same thing I ordered from them restaurant, and they continued to argue and provide probably one of the poorest customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Very sad to see a restaurant that used to be very good go down so quickly. Thankfully, GrubHub was a good company and just refunded the money. Shame on you, Tampico’s. Customer...
