I recently visited El Taco Express in Marion and ordered a variety of tacos: Carne Asada y Chorizo, Al Pastor, and Birria, each loaded with onion, cilantro, queso, and avocado. I paired it all with a refreshing Horchata.
The Birria taco was hands down my favorite—it packed a lot of flavor! The Al Pastor taco was a close second, and all the extra toppings were fresh and perfectly complemented the tacos. The portion sizes were generous.
While the initial service was a bit slow, likely due to only one server on duty, the restaurant was clean, and once I ordered, the food came out quickly.
The chips were tasty, though I noticed they provide bottled salsa rather than a dipping option. I didn’t mind, but it might not be for everyone.
Overall, this place is a gem in Marion. The tacos were delicious and affordable—maybe not the very best I’ve ever had, but definitely worth a visit for quality, authentic tacos. Highly...
Read moreHaving high standards for Mexican food from my border town upbringing (I could smell the carne asada from home!), I decided to test El Taco Express with a to-go order. This isn't just good taco shop food; it's a nostalgic experience that travels well. The star of the show is undeniably the trifecta of perfection: the lengua, the carne asada, and the chicken tacos. The lengua is fork-tender, richly flavored, and prepared exactly how it should be—absolutely melting in your mouth. The carne asada is smoky, perfectly seasoned, and chopped, not shredded, giving it that authentic street taco bite. Even the chicken tacos are a standout, moist, and...

Since living in Marion for 2 years we've passed by El Taco Express everyday but never tried it...the name just screamed "Gringo trying to sound Mexican!" Well our desperation for a good burrito got the best of my husband and I tonight so we gave it a shot and we were happily surprised to be eating food that really reminded us of the taco shops back in San Diego!! Very good! I got the carne assada burrito and hubby got a chicken burrito and both were delicious! All we're missing still is the San Diego style rolled tacos but I think that's going to take a trip...
