Two words: exposed brick! Actually more than two words, live music and great drinks. If they dont have it on tap, its probably in a bottle or can in the cooler. Staff was courteous and quick with their service. Had the luck of catching Chad Clark play a live set of country music. SCD is must visit bar and a can't miss for live music

Fell in love with this place as soon as I walked in! Have been looking for a place for a good happy hour and when I walked in, it reminded me of home. Great cocktails, great menu, great service, and great prices. Will be back! If in town, have to stop by. Also love that you can order and have delivered food from anywhere near by.

Our first visit and won’t be the last! Wonderful atmosphere, I love cities who can see the potential in old buildings. An awesome selection of bourbons and creative cocktails. Enjoyed great pizza from Mr. Bill’s Wood Fired Pizza Truck. And the jazz band was perfect!

It was a nice place there for a while, but then the owner decided to take his business down a dark political alley. Now the drinkery is hosting fundraisers/events for one party's political candidate, but not the other. Way to instantly alienate half of your customer base. Businesses don't survive too long around here after turns like these. And it's a real shame, too, because it was great to be on the receiving end of all of downtown Marion's dish there for a while, (the owner loves to talk lol) but then he changed. I wasn't even able to defend him to my friends anymore. I disagree with this decision to split Marion down the middle. Bad move. Not a fan. People go to places like these to get away from politics, not have it Shoveled into your face.

Even if the drinkery decides to eventually host the other party, then they will just end up alienating everyone. Oh well, guess it's back to the OK. They know better not to play politics with Marion's customers.

edit: The reply is misleading. Gov't agency meetings are one thing; political fundraisers are completely different. Learn...

Incredible craft cocktails, made by friendly and accommodating bartenders who really know their stuff. Drink menu includes their own recipes, but they also have pretty much any concoction you could ever think of, as well as an very extensive craft beer lineup. There are food trucks outside on a regular basis, as the Shovel doesn’t serve actual food - just cheese plates, small charcuterie, etc. Atmosphere is authentically old-school, line at the bar for drinks is always long, recommend trying to get a seat at the bar for quicker service. There are plenty of tables inside and also a lounge-ish area with a couch and armchairs, very cozy for a group of 6-8 people. Large, clean restrooms, shaded outdoor seating. Lots of parking out back. This place is a huge asset to...

I mean Wow!!!....talk about perception deception!!! I was not underwhelmed when I visited the Shovel City Drinkery tonight! They have an outstanding selections of bourbon and beer. They have a very creative and delicious drink menue. They have created a "current" and pleasant atmsphere. They serve charcuterie and other menu items. They have daily drink specials and live music on thursdays. There is a spacious back patio area. There is on street parking on maint st. and parking in the back too. All of that was teriffic, but the one thing that truely impressed me the most was the amazing service that I received from Scott at the bar! He was a craftsman and very informative as well. This is defiantly a Marion......
