Sam Vera — Restaurant in Marlboro Township

To start I must say service is VERY slow Server did not check on us often Food was extremely bland and some points tasteless - we sat at a nice table by the window but we were pretty isolated from the other tables where people were We were very surprised of the flavorless and strange way of some dishes - example shrimp and beans were mixed in a shredded lettuce with red sauce as opposed to a broccoli rabe or spinach in a clear sauce -so the beans had to be picked out strands of salad slivers. Butter was non salted for bread. My dish needed lemon but never saw a waiter after the food was delivered until basically finished then was asked how everything was and there was too many complaints to get into. We would never go back so we just said it was fine. Because we weren’t looking to start any commotion or looking for free food We doctored it up with salt pepper and cheese and ate what we did. However if I’m the server or busser and see a lot of dishes still with food on them and no one wanted a doggie bag to go, I would of brought it to my managers attention. But it’s ok, we don’t go back there and move...

When you get tired of fancy and prefer quality with a touch of class, visit Sam Vera. Driven past it a thousand times but this was our first visit. Excellent experience all around. Greeted and seated by the owner. Bread, a complimentary antipast and our martinis in short order, including the blue cheese olives we like so much. We ate simple - Caesar salad, zuppe di clams and almond crusted halibut. All were finely prepared and lightly seasoned so that the mild flavors in the fresh ingredients could be enjoyed. Even the accompanying veggies were delicious. Topped it all off with some espresso and ricotta cheesecake (the only REAL kind) which was also of high quality. Friendly and professional service by the bartender, waiter and bussers added to the experience.

We will be returning soon to try other dishes on the extensive menu and look forward to more seafood specials!

1/26/25 Update: Another fantastic seafood meal! This time Canadian oysters on the half...creamy and delicious. For the main, swordfish livornaise. Top notch! Will return...

As a guest of a loyal customer I was mortified at how the maitre d treated us. We can start with one of the appetizers never being brought out. Then the food was not hot and I get it they are very short staffed but the kicker here was when they put a table next to us to accommodate a larger group and realized there wasn’t enough room for them to sit the maitre d just reach over us and started moving our table. And although he said sorry sorry sorry. I think that was so disrespectful. This could have been tolerated if he had come over and said I’m sorry but can I move your table over a bit to make room. By the way moving our table only succeeded at putting us on top of the patrons on the other side of us. This restaurant now list a loyal customer that was there almost every Saturday and often one or two days during the week. What a shame that this shows a lack of class and respect for loyal customers.
