So I have been going here since it was originally “okami” and always enjoyed my time there until the other night. I made a 5 o’clock reservation for 3. Got there at 4:55. We were rushed to sit with a table that was already eating their salad and soup. We were given menus and at the same second asked what we were ordering. We understood the rest of our table already ordered so we quickly picked our hibatchi meals and then they asked us for the paper menus back. So I guess I’m not able to order anything else. Then my friend was trying to look over the drink menu, the waiter asked for the menu back but she insisted she wanted to look at it more. The food comes, our portions were very small. My fiancé usually doesn’t want the veggies so is given extra rice to make up for it, that wasn’t offered this time. As soon as our chef finished up cooking a huge party walked in and started standing behind our seats. A waiter came over, gave us boxes and was basically telling us to leave so the new party could sit. I had ordered a fried ice cream and was told to sit in the bar and eat it. The people we were originally sitting with left, after being rushed out, and the new party started sitting before the table was even cleaned off. My friend never even got her drink she ordered. They offered the fried ice cream for free since I couldn’t even eat it at my table. Our reservation was for 5 and I was pushed out of there at 5:45. Very disrespectful and rude in my opinion and I...
Read moreAVOID AT ANY COST. What an absolutely disastrous staff and management. We went with our kids and parents for dinner here. It was my parent's first time of hibachi experience. Right from seating at the hibachi table to extra pressure of ordering extra entrees, they made us feel pretty used. After a long wait for food, another party got seated on the empty seats. They made us wait for over 45 minutes before the chef came with the food to be prepared. He was utterly disinterested in making the food, forget about entertaining the table. Then he got visibly and verbally mad at us for serving the food among plates. He threw everything in my wife's plate and asked to distribute it for rest of us. I did request him to serve it for us but he did get mad about that suggestion and started cursing in foreign language. At that point we got off from our table and asked to speak to the manager. The manager seemed to be caring until she said "The chef is new and he is not in a right condition, so you agree its a chef's fault and not a business's fault". These are your employees so this is your fault. What a terrible night. After 2 hours of wasting time, we left the restaurant without eating. The chef treated us like we were begger asking to serve us free food. Please avoid at any cost unless you want to ruin...
Read moreOk, maybe this is my fault, but I keep trying to find a teppanyaki place with really good food and I keep coming up short. Many of these places, this one included, are aimed at non-Asian customers who want a show rather than quality steak or shrimp.
It was just me and my wife and I ordered the filet and chicken with fried rice as usual. I also ordered a spicy tuna maki. The maki came pretty quickly which meant it might have been premade. It certainly wasn’t spicy and was pretty bland.
Once the chef arrived, he was very animated with all the usual antics of the performance. In case you don’t know, it’s cutting food and throwing it to an open mouthed customer, a furious squirt of sake into your mouth, and the predictable teppanyaki volcano on the grill. (Yawn)
What my wife and I really appreciate is high quality ingredients cooked fresh in front of you. This is where there was a let down. The filet was cooked ok, but it tasted a bit old and the chef was about to smother it with sauce before I stopped him. The fried rice, which is usually a highlight, was inadequately seasoned and was literally the blandest fried rice I’ve had anywhere.
This was a big letdown. Unless you’re looking for free-flowing drinks and an uninspiring performance for the...
