Barrel + Beam — Restaurant in Marquette Township

The food an the beer are great, but my experiences have been....mixed. I came twice and both experiences there was no seating and the staff were over their heads in both serving and accomodations to prepared events.

This was the second time here and this was the "Pop Up Ramen" hosting. We got there early and was told the ramen orders will be in 5 more minutes because there were too many orders placed. This was only 7-9 minutes after 5pm when the event started. I grabbed a drink and decided to find a place to sit while I waited to place an order. The bar was filled with children and families. I understand it's a bar/restaurant, but there is only 2 actual tables in the common area and children were snatching up stools and seats when available. I am not exaggerating when I say it was an actual war to find a seat. This is an all ages bar, and people were bringing 3-4 kids each. One family had taken up the entire second floor and all seating to be around the one table upstairs.

My time comes after 5 minutes of waiting to get in a line wrapped out the door and they tell me I'll need to wait an additional 15 minutes because the ramen orders are on hold again. I was clearly frustrated because I was already told it'd be 5 and after explaining they should have a list of patrons waiting already they decided to push my order through anyways. I don't mean to be rude, but the bartender took it quite offensively when I explained why I would be frustrated.

We hosted a bridal shower for my daughter at Barrel & Beam last weekend. The staff went out of their way to make it a wonderful event! They were very helpful in accommodating our group size and helping to make the space - which is already awesome! - intimate and fun. Everyone was cheery and ready to help. I can't say how much this meant to us :) We traveled to the event locale, and yet felt very much at home. The in-house chef provided a fabulous meal and was more than accommodating for food allergies. She created a wonderful menu and everyone raved about the delicious food. The bar staff provided wonderful beverages made onsite and locally - we couldn't have been more satisfied.
