The Hitching Post — Restaurant in Marshall

We are in Marshall for work & decided to try here - also my coworker heard a commercial about how good the crab stuffed shrimp are. Well, first of all, we decided to sit outside on the patio. I don’t know what the deal is, but they have a serious fly problem. They were all over drinks all over our purses. We waited for our waiter to come back out after we received our drinks and had ordered our food to let him know that we wanted to move inside. They seemed pretty busy, and we ended up having to go inside and ask for a table inside ourselves. Once we got inside, it was really dark in there. They definitely need more lighting. We got our food, and as other reviews have mentioned, I got a burger - great bun, terrible burger. I would’ve rather gone to a hole in the wall bar and paid five dollars for a burger instead I paid $13 for a bland unseasoned, Patty of beef, cheese, and a bunch of mushrooms. My coworker decided he wanted to try the shrimp that he heard advertised on the radio and you only get four shrimp for $23. He ate them and said he would never recommend them to anyone. We were halfway through our food before our server even came to ask if we needed anything or if anything tasted good. I would pass this place up and spend your money...

Im not sure how this place has managed to have 4.4 stars.....for lack of better term, I was bamboozled. Im in town for work and thought heck why not, walked in and the place smelt like you could smoke at the bar...that should have been my first red flag. Ordered a platter of BBQ, the brisket was basically boot leather with 0 flavor, the pulled pork was mostly dry with hints of fat, and quite chewy. The sweet potato fries were OK, and the ribs were edible because tney were drenched in bbq sauce and everything overall felt like it was just being reheated in a microwave. I dont know why but after that I still gave the bread pudding a try and my lord when I tell you it was awful I mean im pretty sure the mattress in my hotel would be easier to chew and would have more flavor. It was clearly just cooked frozen and reheated to be served. I would never go back to this place and you shouldn't either.....the food in the gas stations around here is better and its cheaper too. Id give them 1 star but the bartender was nice so they can thank him for...

I'm not even sure where to start.. hmm ok Sooo umm lemme start with Cindy she has been my server every time I have come in during the day.. she is super nice and always has been a great waitress/server and today was no different. Joe is the bartender that was here a few nights ago when I stopped in to grab a bite to go.. Joe is also super nice and I enjoyed talking to him whilst waiting for my supper. The food is well it's freaking sooo soo good that I can't even .. I just can't!! Seriously though the food is really good .. this is kind of embarrassing but I have no upper teeth and it's really hard to eat some foods like steak or crunchy stuff. So one day I ordered the steak sandwich and hoped for the best and well it was just as tender as the bread and I was hooked. I truly recommend this place the food is super good the service is great.. sooo umm ya come in grab some lunch or dinner check out their new patio and say hi to Cindy or Joe... Hopefully you won't be...
