La Carreta Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Marshalltown

This was the smallest chimichanga I have ever seen in my life, and it was 12.00! They must have used a 6-inch tortilla because it was about 1-in tall and maybe 4 inches long.The sour cream that was included amounted to maybe a half a teaspoon, on some shredded lettuce. The shredded chicken inside was not seasoned. They put us in a booth that we could barely squeeze into, and we aren't fat! We moved ourselves. Service slow and we had to keep asking for the same things over and over. When the food was served they brought my plate and did not bring my friends plate for another 5 minutes. Our server checked on us once and never came back, and we found out he was on break after waiting forever for our check. Evidently he didn't let anybody else know to keep an eye on us. Also, the Margaritas were very unimpressive, more sour mix than anything and I felt like I was drinking straight sour. We will never be back!! Spent way too much money on flavorless Mexican food...

Went out with friends for dinner What we received was POOR service, hairs in our food and a dead gnat on my friends California burrito plate. My wife ordered a margarita and it’s was like drinking lime water. We asked to for it to be re-made Waitress, brought a replacement that wasn’t much better. In the end we were charged for both margaritas and never apologized to for the hairs & gnat on my friends plate. When paying my check, I explained the drink was to be replaced & not charged for per the waitress. I was told by the manager, seeing as how my wife drank some of it, I would have to pay for it??!! My wife Pam wanted to go to Hobby Lobby in Marshalltown yesterday and suggested we try the La Carreta Mexican Restaurant, we're very happy we did. Before retiring from Alliant Energy I have heard nothing but good things about this restaurant but not living in Marshalltown we just never got around to trying it, that's all changed now. From the moment we entered we were made to feel like family, the gal who served us was off the charts awesome, very helpful, cheerful and attentive and knowledgeable about their offerings, we couldn't ask for more. Our order came quickly and way exceeded our expectations in deliciousness and at a very reasonable price. This was an exceedingly good eating experience, from beginning to end. Can't wait to return for more, between the two of us a four thumbs up and my coveted cleaned...
