We ate Grillos 2 days in row because we have been busy with visiting family.
Last night we ordered our dinners as takeout. The lady on the phone was super friendly. When I went in to pick up the order there was a older man waiting to be seated standing there, after about 5 mins without either of us being acknowledged an older lady walked in and a waitress who had walked by multiple times said hello to her and stood talking to her for a few minutes before walking away still not acknowleding either of us standing there. A few mins later another waitress came over sat the man who was there before me, delivered some food to a close table, grabbed my order and cashed me out, then sat the group that had come in after us. Food was decent, except the fries. Spagetti was really good.
Today we went in for lunch and it was horrible! We got seated immediately but the tables, seats and menus were sticky. It wasnt busy when we first got seated, only a few people scattered around the resturant. We didnt have to wait too long for a waitress to come and get our drink order. She brought the coffees but no spoons to stir them, it took about 20 mins after asking for spoons for her to finally bring a single spoon for our 2 coffee drinkers to share. After watching multiple tables who arrived after us get there food, we finally got some of our food. A short time later some more of our food arrived, leaving only 1 person (a child) at our table without their food and it didnt arrive until everyone else was almost done with their food. When she delivered our food we asked for silverware and the waitress asked put out that we wouldnt want to eat with our fingers, and still didnt bring enough for everyone. We had 8 people in our party and she only gave us 3 sets of silverware. Everyones food was cold, my kids chicken tenders tasted fishy, and my philly beef crossant was nothing but fat to the point of being unable to eat it. Our waitress never asked if we wanted drink refills, but had no problem checking repeatedly in on the tables around us with groups of men in...
Read moreI am a retired U.S. Air Force officer and I had never eaten at Grillo’s Café. Uncle Rifenburg suggested it after attending the visitation of Lawrence Rifenburg, his brother. My aunt Rifenburg is 78 years old and was delighted to find they had a children’s menu because she simply cannot eat much. NOT SO FAST. Our server, Shakota, informed my 78 year old aunt that she was not permitted to order from the children’s menu unless she had a card saying the customer has had a gastric surgery. My wife had one (because of having had such a surgery) and told our aunt that she would order from the children’s menu and let my aunt have it. My aunt would order a full meal for my wife. After our food was served, two employees (one with tattoos up and down both arms) came to our table. Tattoo lady challenged Aunt Rifenburg for swapping dishes and begin to tell our party of four that because a 78 year old woman mind you, (Aunt Rifenburg) violated the NO CHILDREN’S menu for adults policy that she would be charged the full amount. I told them that it was all the same because my Aunt Rifenberg ordered a full meal for my wife. They began arguing the policy till I had to ask them to leave our table, that they were upsetting all of us to the point of losing our appetite. I was wearing my retired Air Force cap and the point I make is that, the two (not managers) had absolutely no sensitivity for a Senior or a Retire Air Force member.
The short of it is that all that my wife and aunt – 69 and 78 years old did was swapped meals. Shakota, our waitress reported it to other staff (not the manager). Tattoo lady and a cohort came to the table and began to scold my wife and aunt for daring to swap meals, because one was from the Children’s Menu.
Marshfield, MO deserves better than Grillo’s. These are horrible people who think nothing of bunching up at a table while people are eating – challenging and scolding and...
Read moreHave eaten here many times and food is always good. Dad had fried catfish dinner, I had the pork tenderloin dinner tonight. Both come with choice of two sides and one of their. fabulous homemade rolls. They bread their own tenderloins folks! They're not turkey platter size but they're plenty big, like the size of a small dinner/luncheon plate, 8 - 10" across I'd say. Definitely hangs off a bun by a good amount if eaten as a sandwich. Couple that with a piece of their lemon cake and you can't go wrong. They serve breakfast all day, and have everything from burgers and salads to steaks plus an extensive kids menu. This is a great place to get good comfort diner type food and best yet - it's delivered to your table on real china with metal silverware. No standing in line and eating off a plastic tray here! Note, our meals were right at $11/ea when you added a drink on, and cake was extra but worth every bite. They also have a large assortment of pies too, all great depending on what you like. I just prefer the lemon cake. It's not most unique lemon cake I've ever had! Just wish they had a Springfield location. That's the only downfall I find is I have to go to Marshfield...
