I tried this place around 7 or 8 times now. Really, I only actually ate here 4 times. The other 3 or 4 I drove off after waiting in line behind just 1 dude for at least 10 minutes. Once I was in line for 20 before I drove off. It took them something like 5 minutes to even take my order that time. I've never even bothered trying when there was more than one person in line. I don't have all day. I think it takes them so long because the kids working there are on their phones and the adults mostly appear to be on some kind of drugs. At this point, the wait alone has me given up on this place. That said, that's not the only issue.
The food itself is slop. It's really bad. I was excited when I first moved to Wisconsin because of how much people talked Taco John's up over Taco Bell and Del Taco. I genuinely do not know what the hell is wrong with those people. The food is always cold, always bland to the point of being disgusting, and sometimes even missing ingredients. My absolute worst experience with it was ordering a breakfast burrito and getting cold, rubbery eggs on a soggy tortilla with the meat missing and so much pickled jalapeno that it was the only thing the burrito tasted like. The food is also thrown in there in a complete mess, which it's at least slightly better about than the typical Taco Bell. That's about the only positive I can think of, mind you.
The prices are insane. This is another thing I don't get. People say that Taco John's is cheaper than Taco Bell, but it simply is not. It's about the same price for an equivalent item, if not significantly more, for much worse food. Taco Bell is by no means "high quality", but this food is orders of magnitude worse. It should be priced similarly to something you'd buy from the freezer section of a grocery store or maybe something you'd find on sale under a heat lamp at 7/11. I do not know how these people stay in business. People cannot sincerely enjoy this, and there's a Taco Bell right down the road, as well as at least 4 Mexican restaurants in the town they can order takeout from. Totally baffling.
TL;DR: Save your time, money, and tastebuds and go...
Read moreActually superior to Taco Bell, only thing they have going for them is Baja Blast but I can get that canned at Walmart. The cheese is amazing its not dumped with fake nacho cheese in every bite, Oles are made by the gods, they serve actually good tasting "Mexican" food and as a partial Hispanic I am very pleased with the flavors and the desserts are absolutely superior to whatever trash Walmart 1lb bag of crap they are selling. I am a happy woman will be going here once a week as a cheat day for my dieting. The only downside is don't expect them to get most of your order correct if they have a line of more than 2 cars. The lady even read it off to me and managed to try and kill my intestines with cream cheese was not happy when I got home and had to take a napkin to Mexican...
Read moreAte here twice in the past 3 months and both times have been incredibly disappointing. Being a former worker (at a different franchise) I was very dissatisfied with the service and food that I received. One morning they ran out of eggs which can happen but shouldn't happen, but again it has happened to me so I can understand. However, after such a wait I'd hope for at least a solid burrito but it was so short on sausage it really upset my morning. Being a loyal customer I gave them another chance at some breakfast burritos and again they were skimpy as hell on the sausage, not to mention they took like 5 minutes for 4 meat and potato burritos when drive was empty like c'mon. I could've had them done and bagged up in...
