First time here. We were on our way to Minneapolis and decided to stop for a couple of hot beverages. The place is part of a larger co-op. Inside you'll find a gift shop offering Wisconsin-themed items, along with a fridge that has different meats and sausages. There are conference rooms that look like they could be rented or used for small groups. In the middle of all this is the coffee shop.
The coffee shop itself is not a large operation. There are some very nice seating options that include high tops, tables, and couches. The windows let in a lot of natural light. There is merchandise that includes shirts, coffee, and accessories. There were a few other people inside, and everyone was having quiet conversations.
Got a nice greeting from the baristas. It looked like one of them was in training. Ordered a couple of London Fog Tea Lattes (a little lavender, a little vanilla, extra foam) in a mug. I would normally get a piece of pastry, and prefer a scone, but they didnāt offer those, so I skipped that. The senior staffer was doing a nice job helping the trainee with the recipe and process. It seemed to be a helpful and caring relationship between the two.
After a few minutes, we got our drinks. We usually just get the drink in a mug, but our drinks were made in a small coffee urn, and we were able to pour them after they finished steeping. That was a nice option. The drinks had nice flavor with the extra foam. However, they were just barely warm. We decided to drink them, but I did mention this to one of the staff afterward.
Itās a nice place to hang out. Next time I would definitely mention or ask for my latte to be hotter (around...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst let me start off by saying kindness and service goes a long way for me, and normally local shops show this more than big chains. I love visiting local coffee spots but I give Uptown a one star because of a couple reasons, unfortunately my $7 (which is kinda pricy) cold brew was almost sour, not sure if it was supposed to be that way. The coffee here just seems off every time I get it. However I will say their lotus drinks are tasty. Except there have been a few times where they are missing an ingredient or flavor. And after coming here a few times to see if they are just having an off day, it seems the same every time. The staff always act like they donāt wanna be there, and the energy is wrong. I am personally a really chatty person and enjoy making conversation, not sure who was working but they were very short with me and made me feel kinda silly for saying anything. This place has potential, but I just wish the staff were more inviting, and the coffee was better! Also more of a personal opinion but I donāt like that they are big supporters of Minocqua brewing company, to me that shows that would rather blast their politics than focus on making...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy friend and I visited uptown coffee about 2 weeks ago, very disappointed š. First I asked for a lavender latte and they didnt have anymore lavender which I understand itās probably a seasonal flavor. Then I asked for a cold brew and they didnt have any left, this was 1:00 pm. Really!! Then asked about the soup special if the gal would recommend it and she replied I never tasted it. Ok she could have been a little more nicer about it. What finally took the cake was when I asked for just a cup of black coffee and I received a lukewarm almost cold cup of coffee, I told the gal it was lukewarm she replied she would pop it in the microwave, I have NEVER gone to a coffee shop to have microwave coffee especially when the shop was going to be open several more hours. Very rude young gals, they were more worried about what they were going to do that evening. Needless to say I will never step foot in there again and word of mouth...
