We ordered two tandoori thali, and one chicken dum Biryani. Tandoori didn't taste good . It didn't even seem like it was cooked in a tandoor oven. It lacked the actual tandoori flavor. Now let's talk about the chicken dum biryani. This is basically basmati plain white rice mixed with some spicy chicken curry that is extremely spicy especially when we ordered "medium ". This so called chicken dum biryani didn't have any flavor or characteristics of an actual chicken dum biryani. There was no biryani spices, no color, no taste , nothing. Like I said above, it was basically a basmati white rice mixed with some spicy chicken curry. Also, they advertise one price and charge you a different price which is way higher. This is false advertising and a cause for a law suit and penalty from the state. You can't advertise one price and charge a different price. Overall, $57 dollars down the drain. don't waste your money here. This place has some shady business practices. If you order a chicken biryani, don't expect it to taste like chicken biryani. It will taste like rice with some curry dumped on it. This is a disgrace for biryani. All these negative reviews you see here are true. One of the worst food quality I have ever experienced. And, the audacity of them charging higher than the advertised online menu price for such a poor quality food is just crazy to me. Don't fall for some of the fake "5 stars"...
Read morePriyas has always been a favorite restaurant of mine. My ex and I were frequent patrons, there. Each time, we would spend $30-40 each time. Being a South Indian guy, I like this South Indian place for its huge delectable Dosa, the Thaali that reminds me of Hotel Rajesh in Bangalore, etc. Well, today was disappointing. The Sambhar on my Thaali was stale. The staff asked me if they could give me something else for it. Sure they were trying to be courteous, I guess. See, the thing is , I try my best not to spend money on restaurants like I used to, before. So, going to Priyas happens only when I am not able to cook or I just want to give myself a break. Today was one of those days. It was nearly $20 after tips. To me., this was money NOT well spent, with the stale sambar and all, especially after driving 25 miles each way in bad weather. Before serving anything to customers, I would think they need to make sure what they bring out to the table is fresh. I guess mistakes do happen once in a while, but to people like me, spending 20 bucks is a big deal. The restaurant has always made me happy in the past, but after this, I don't think I want to go back in a while. And my general peeve about Indian restaurants is they don't seem to listen to your suggestions or complaints as seriously as other places. Everything seems to be taken in a...
Read moreFinding breakfast without sugar in US is extremely hard. So we had a light breakfast at Starbucks and then proceeded to see the Cathedral Basilica of St Louis. We got hungry fast so we decided to hit Priyaa Restaurant which was a little further away then we wanted. So, when we arrived I wasn’t expecting much as the location didn’t look very good. The ambiance was not pleasing, but the food was palate pleasing. They had 5 different appetizers - idli, upma, vada, mirchi bhaji and puri chole. They had so many options that I was fill from just the appetizers. The upma tasted as if it was made at home, the idli was so soft my son gobbled it down asking for more (which he never does), the mirchi bajji was just the right amount of spicy, and the vadas weren’t oily at all and were perfect. The brinjal fry was perfect and tasted yum! The sambar was so tasty I just had an entire bowl by itself. The rasam was good too, but the sambar tasted better. The Chutneys were on point and tasted absolutely delectable. I can’t emphasize enough on how good the food was.
If you are ever in St. Louis make sure to go to this restaurant as their food absolutely tastes like the one you would eat in a restaurant...
