First visit on 12/11/24 in the later afternoon. The place is large, nicely decorated and enticing, but I was very surprised by the sensation that this establishment was scrupulously clean. Admittedly I don't usually notice that aspect of an establishment, so it speaks well of their hygiene practices and it was indeed very clean everywhere, including the restrooms. My only "criticism" is that like most beer halls it's a little bit noisy. 😊 Definitely a thumbs up on the overall vibe and environment.
A very nice range of unique beers is on offer but I zeroed in on a classic, their dark mild on nitro, 4.2%. This was a nicely malty but not too sweet amber ale. Excellent mouthfeel and a crisp finish that had me happily contemplating my second one while I was having my first.
We sampled the food including fried brussel sprouts, a crispy chicken sandwich and fries. Everything arrived promptly and all dishes were freshly made and piping hot. As we enjoyed our beer and food I was facing the kitchen area and I observed a high rate of hustle among the staff. No food sat under the heat lamp for more than a few seconds before it was on its way to the customers tables.
So my first impression from this initial visit is overwhelmingly positive on all metrics. I just wish I didn't live 45...
Read moreCan't Go Wrong With Craft Brews! We were on a road trip and staying in this area and this brewer showed up on my maps so I had to stop in. Just as so many other brewers, they have found a home in an industrial park setting. It's actually quite large inside with the beer service to the left and a kitchen to the right. There is some outside seating. We just had dinner a little earlier so we didn't try any food, but the menu looks good for a brew pub. The tap list is pretty large and all brewed by them. Canned brews are available for take-out. The tap list on the wall has the name of the beer, the ABV, IBU, the type of beer, the pour size and price. I opted for a flight which is basically half pours of each - the Dry Irish Stout, the nitro Dark Mild, the Irish Red Ale with Honey and a Doppel Bock. Clearly, I like darker beers and each of these was excellent. I chatted with a regular at the bar and he suggested I get the Barrel Aged Belgian Quad - 16.5% ABV so it's got some umph. His personal favorite and it appeared as though he tried a few. I'm glad to see so many micro brewers as I travel and always enjoy giving them my support. Stop in, enjoy a beer or two, maybe grab a bite to eat...
Read moreThe menu is now just sad. They used to have really good food, that was trendy and had lots of options that were unique to Six Mile. Now I would describe the food as generic, and nothing to write home about (but is the main reason I’m writing the review). I do not recommend the food anymore. The beers are great, but that’s it. I invited some friends right after they had changed the menu and we were all very let down. What happened to the fantastic chicken nachos?? Replaced with a store bought frozen “nacho taco” that was fine, but if I really wanted frozen boxed meals, I’d buy them at the grocery store and eat them at home. That is the way most of the food felt. If I can make the food far better at home with minimal effort, I have no reason to go to the restaurant and pay a lot of money for it. Again, the service was fine, beers were good, but please bring back some of the old menu favorites. Without that, I can’t recommend Six...
