Four of us visited on Friday, May 27 at around 3pm. 2 adults, 2 kids, typical 4-top. We ordered fried mozz and the chips with salsa\queso as apps. Queso was watery and the fried mozz were small. The apps weren't terrible, just not great.
For entrees, we ordered 2 brisket sandwich platters (baked beans and fries for each of the two sides), crab cake platter (fries and coleslaw as sides), and the 1/2 BBQ chicken (onion rings and baked potato as sides)
First off, this is a place that praises their BBQ and sauce. The sauce is really sugary, thin\runny, and doesn't really have a lot of flavor. It's pretty bad compared to a typical BBQ sauce.
Kids didn't enjoy the sandwiches because they didn't enjoy the BBQ sauce. But they did like the brisket by itself without sauce. Baked beans is actually, baked beans, kidney beans and chick peas with a sauce. Honestly, It tasted like they took a can of Bush's Baked Beans, threw in kidney beans and chick peas and then added their own BBQ sauce, which isn't great to begin with. It was just .... weird. Fries were cold and tough/chewy.
Crab cake was 80-85% filler with lump crab meat, not jumbo jump as stated on their menu. Even if it was jumbo lump, it wouldn't make up for the 80/20 ratio. I believe that the platter was $29 or something like that, so to charge close to $30 for a 80/20 ratio crab cake is just silly. Fries, again, cold and tough/chewy. Coleslaw was pretty bad too.
The 1/2 BBQ chicken tasted like a boiled chicken (flavorless on its own) with a thin layer of their thin/runny, sugary BBQ sauce on it. Onion rings were super overdone and teeth-breaking crunchy. They weren't burnt, just fried for way too long. Baked potato was really good, however... its a potato. Actually, it was a potato served in foil with the diner-style butter and sour cream packets. Yes.... packets. But, it was good.
Place was clean and servers were super friendly and knowledgeable...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I had visited 1 time before this afternoon. The 1st visit was exceptional, unfortunately I don't even know where start with this review of our pick up order....
The very first thing that needs to be addressed is the Online Ordering portal. It is REALLY bad and hostess even apologized for it being so bad!! Many items do allow you to customize but be forewarned, make sure you check EVERYTHING in your order before you leave. The customizations made to BOTH Haynie sandwiches were not done. Thankfully I checked because my mother's sandwich had mustard which I asked to be removed as my mother is allergic. In addition, you CAN NOT pick your sides with the sandwich (picture shows baked beans and coleslaw) so unless you call in order, you get fries.
There was a smaller paper bag with the order and I should have checked that as well....what an ABSOLUTE mess. They literally threw hot baked/sweet potatoes in with the coleslaw, butter, and sour cream that were in tiny cups with lids. Let's just say that upon getting home and unpacking the smaller bag, the lids of sour cream had come off because they were thrown in bag and sour cream was everywhere....through the bag as well š„
The order was missing the Chili, which I also paid extra for it to be LOADED, minus the jalapenos. Im going to call and get my money back - $9.49.
The Hog and regular wings were very good. My mother did love the coleslaw. So at least some of the meals were prepared correctly.
The Hostess was the STAR of this experience. She did her best to fix my mother's Haynie. She shouldn't have to apologize to customers because the online ordering system is bad!!
We will never order take out again and stick to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped by while traveling on a Thursday evening. Promptly seated upon arrival with no wait. The server was attentive and courteous. I ordered the Rack and Cake meal, which was a half rack of ribs and a crab cake. I would say I'm very familiar with bbq, having visited some of the best bbq joints on the east coast and midwest. I grew up in Maryland, love everything crab related, and know what a great crab cake should be. The ribs were cooked okay but lacked any flavor except for the bbq sauce applied. The crab cake was ordered fried and cooked to correct color/temperature. It contained a bit more than average filler and had a somewhat pasty texture. A lack of crab taste, hidden by a somewhat fishy flavor. My guess is the grease in the kitchen was old and needed to be changed. In all, somewhat underwhelmed by the experience. I purchased a single crab cake to go for my wife. Upon sampling, she expressed the same, unsolicited thoughts as mine. Probably wouldn't go back, unless to order regular bar food like a burger or...
