First time at Shogun. Lunchtime business was slow, maybe due to windy, chilly February. We were seated quickly. Drink orders taken and served fast. Shogun is a small strip mall diner with small, medium tables along one wall and a dark unadorned wall on the opposite side. Perhaps a local artist could be inspired to paint a colourful mural along that side. Our orders were quick to arrive. My special roll with tuna and salmon had a very slight off smell and aftertaste, perhaps the fish was a little old. My husband was unimpressed with his tempura, saying it was too greasy. I finished his unwanted fried rice. I felt the seasoning not as good as that used by other sushi restaurants. Our other companion made no comment about her meal. Our mochi ice cream desserts were a home run. Nicely presented with orange segments and whipped cream. I should have ordered two mango mochi desserts instead of sushi. At $75.00, the lunch was a lacklustre disappointment. We...
Read moreBeen here many times over the last few years but recently the service and food quality has gone downhill. No acting manager on duty tonight and arrogance of the young staff on duty was unreal. We always tip heavy and when asked about the status of our food that over 20minutes late, we were told we were being rude(?!) What?? Got home and all the teriyaki dishes were missing the proper sauce and one of the sushi rolls smelled bad.(!) were very understanding that people make mistakes and things happen sometimes but the complete lack of ownership and customer service tonight was very disappointing. The complete lack of respect and consideration for business support was appalling. Now that the food quality also seems to also be questionable, we’re done. Many other places on the island that have much better customer service and better quality food. Rather than rolling the dice with your money and stomach on service and food, suggest ordering from a different restaurant....
Read moreI really enjoyed my meal here. Small place in the middle of a strip mall, but it's convenient to drop by after crossing the Bay Bridge from DC. Food was delicious. Tried the pork ramen, Futo Maki, and the real crab meat California roll. All were great but the ramen was the stand out. Just the perfect amount of salt, delicious meat, and lots of little bits they add to make it better. The Futo Maki was surprisingly good. Not something I would seek out in a roll, meaning the pickled vegetables, but it hit the spot. The real crab meat roll was good but didn't seem different from other places I have eaten. Maybe they should add some spicy mayo to it? Either way, the service was great, the food was amazing. Can't wait to come back the next time...
