IHOP — Restaurant in Maryland

I went to IHOP this morning 8/24/19 with my wife and son. First of all, it was fairly busy but had plenty of tables open. The first thing was checking in as there were a few families waiting. We stood at the counter and waited for a server or hostess to take our name for a table. When the person came up, she had no system to check anyone in and was going to seat us ahead of others who had been waiting. She scribbled our name on a pad of paper and we waited a few minutes and were quickly seated at a table... all good. Well we had our menus and looked them over to decide what we wanted to eat. Mainly we wanted coffee and water. The server came by after about 5 or 10 minutes and asked us if we were just seated. We said we were. She didnt bother taking a drink order at that time and disappeared back into the kitchen. After another 10 minutes, she brought the food and drinks for the table behind us...and told them she had forgotten a few things. Still we had no drink order in and still had our menus. Finally after another 5 minutes she came by and took our orders. We gave our drink and food order...asking for coffee, water, and a milkshake. Well.....lo and behold...another 15 minutes went ticking by and we had no drinks on the table...no coffee to enjoy, no water to drink, and no milkshake. I had to flag down another server who was serving tables with food and drinks who were seated after us to ask for coffee and water. We never saw our server on the floor after we placed our order. She was not proactive and checking on her tables. Finally, the waitress I flagged down brought us coffee.......until she set the three mugs down.....and two of them were dirty with caked on residue at the bottom of it. My wife saw the mugs and was about to say something, but the server quickly...and I mean quickly snatched the mugs off the table. At this point, we were done with this fairly new IHOP and the absolutely horrible service. We waited 45 minutes or so and never recieved anything at our table. We got up and walked out as our server, who was probably BS'ing in the kitchen, walked out of the kitchen with our food. She watched us walk out the door shaking our heads. Thanks IHOP for the awesome service! I will never attempt to eat there again....errrr I mean...attempt to just sit at a table there again. HORRIBLE PLACE....POORLY MANAGED...SERVICE - NONEXISTENT...FOOD - IMAGINARY; DRINKS - WHAT DRINKS (Dont go there if your dehydrated...you'll die); DIRTY. No thanks KENT ISLAND IHOP.

PS...WENT TO CRACKER BARRELL INSTEAD AND HAD THREE FRENCH TOAST LATTES...WITHIN 5 MINS OF BEING SEATED AND EATING...

First off....turn the damn music down! It's impossible to have any type of conversation.

My daughter went there with her boyfriend this past Monday (7/3/17) at 3:00 to grab something to eat before he had to go to work at 4:00. Waitress served them at 3:45. They had to get it to go. The waitress told them that they only had one cook and that is why it took so long. Ha!

I went yesterday (7/4/17) ordered two eggs over easy, grits, toast and sausage patties. Waitress came out five minutes after placing order and said they were out of grits??? Wth, Who runs out of breakfast food since that is what IHOP is about. I told her just to bring the eggs and sausage. She did. She brought 2 sausage patties out on one plate, 2 eggs on another plate and 2 pieces of toast on yet another plate. I asked her for a big plate to put everything on and she said they didn't have any????? Again, wth? Guess the dishwasher didn't show up. I looked closely at the eggs since they didn't look right and the yolks were cooked solid, the eggs were very dry and the outer edges were very crispy. I told her I couldn't eat them and to just bring scrambled eggs. She took them away and about ten minutes later brought the scrambled eggs out. I was almost done the rest of the meal by the time it came. Would have been nice to have it all together but oh well. Waitress brought the check and placed it on the table and left. Got up to pay at the cash register and was told by the young man standing there that he doesn't accept the payments that I would have to pay from the table? WHAT??? Got exact change out and placed it in the tin box with the check and left. I will NEVER be back to IHOP in Chester again. Looking forward to the Denny's opening soon and until then I will go to Cracker Barrel.

Pretty sad for a place that has only been open for about...

Stopped at IHOP with 4 young teenagers for breakfast at 0930. upon entering it was extremely cold inside. Hostess lead us promptly to our table. There were only 3 tables of guests seated. After 15 minutes the waitress came dressed in her winter coat, introduced herself and took our drink and food orders. It took another 15 minutes to get our drinks (coffee was barely warm) and were delivered to table by waitress wearing her personal winter gloves while serving. Waitress stated at that time that heat in the building had been out for a week. This was the day after the polar bomb of 2022 had delivered it's extreme cold weather. First food delivery was 45 minutes later. That was 1 order of cheese sticks. Waitress stated food would be delivered as it finished so it would be hot when delivered to table. Each delivery took anywhere from ten to 15 minutes. One order at a time. Total time for food delivery after ordering was 1 hour and 35 minutes for pancakes. Every guest in the restaurant was eating with their coats on due to extreme cold. This was second most unpleasant experience from the IHOP chain. Under the conditions of my latest experience, I feel the waitress was tolerating the best she could. Management should have closed the restaurant until repairs to climate control were completed. The first unacceptable experience I had with IHOP was when my food was delivered the fork still had egg on it and my coffee cup had lipstick present. When I requested a fresh cup of coffee the waitress took my cup walked behind the drink bar wiped off a portion of the lipstick and returned the same cup of coffee to the table. Disgusting!
