I love this restaurant. I have been going since 2007. My husband and I have watched it flourish over the years to become a larger place. The owners are so kind and generous. I love Joshua! He’s the best! He always says hi and makes me and my husband feel welcome. He is the best and I love him!! I love owners, busboys and the waiters there except Hissle. Hissle is rude. The other day we went there and it took forever for her to get to the table because she has had past issues with us (but I just don’t know what it is). I worked in restaurants as has my husband and we always are nice to people who wait on us because we know what it’s like to be wait staff. So anyways, we ordered drinks. She brought them back after a really long time and then walked away without asking if we were ready to order. Most waiters ask after delivering drinks. Mind you it wasn’t busy. There were like 2 other tables. This isn’t the first time we got her and she was rude. One day we asked for a to go box for a meal we had that was rather large and she gave us a small tiny box and we ended up having to ask another person for a large box. But going back to that other night. We ended up having to get up to go to the owner to tell him we were ready to order but she would walk far a way from our table and look at us. She came back and said in Spanish to my husband “sorry she was busy” but there were like no tables. I worked in the restaurant industry and so did my husband. She kept speaking Spanish to him and he was replying in English. I don’t know why she kept speaking to him in Spanish. It was weird. She’s very unprofessional and I honestly don’t know why she is there. I always leave big tips because I love the wait staff there and the busboys especially Jose. He’s amazing. Hissle has left a sour taste for Azucar and honestly should be fired. She was with a couple of tables eagerly to take the orders. I don’t know what her problem is. But it makes me not enjoy...
Read moreService was horrible. Our waiter had 4 tables including ours. This guy proceeded in skipping the table where my fiancé and I sat. He kept serving the other three tables, laughed was very nice to them, spoke in Spanish and didn't even ask us for drinks or greet us in any way. I had to go get another waiter to serve us drinks and after she brought us the drinks (mind you it was at the end of her shift) she kindly apologized and said I have to go home to see my kids. No prob! Again we were left with no service. I then had to get the manager, which had to remind this guy our table belonged to him. Which he then replied "...I know!", which made me even more disappointed. I asked him to please bring me another salsa because the salsa tasted burnt. Like someone left it on the pot for too long and just mixed the bottom burnt part with the rest of the sauce, so it tasted like someone added cigarette ashes to the salsa. He then replied "...we will have to charge you more for the chips." I didn't even ask you for chips bro! I asked you for salsa. Of course I told him and this just made for the most disappointing experience I've had here. It is sad because we usually come here maybe once every month or so due to its close proximity to my home. Man was I disappointed in the service. It's a shame how one person having a bad day or giving poor service can lend an establishment to have a bad rep! We are customers. I tip very well too, having been a waiter in my past. Service of the lowest tier level is the least I expect. Bring me my drinks, and appetizer, main and desert! You don't even have to smile, just be courteous, refil my water and you get 20% from me every time! But this was a hard concept...
Read moreThe restaurant had charged my card three times for different amounts after I went to have lunch with a friend the day before. I noticed when I had looked at my account. I called the restaurant to settle this and a Hispanic lady answered. As you would imagine I was upset at what happened as anyone would. I tried to express to her how upset I was and what happened, she listened at first then she abruptly shut me down and barely allowed me to get a sentence in. She kept interrupting me while I tried explaining my frustration with her and she said that that's not how things are handled in this country as if she knew my background. She showed absolutely no remorse or care at all, she went on being disrespectful and I had to ask her to take my information down, she was more concerned about talking back at me instead. I believe she is the manager since she was the only person answering the phone during the day. She hung up on me several times when I called to ask her name and she also hung up while I was talking to her. She threatened to call the police on me for simply calling back and trying to get her name and for calling her back when she would hang up. She also kept disconnecting the phone line so that I would not be able to contact her either.
I always make sure to support small businesses like this, I was always proud of this establishment but unfortunately I will never return to Azucar after having this experience and being continuously...
