The location has been in business for over 40 plus years under various owners; Isa, the original owner and her family were really sweet people. When she retired and moved away, she sold the store to one of her employees, who in turn also rotated out to another owner.
This is a tough business, and thankfully they've kept the name; that's important when you realize that the people who ate there when they were younger will see that sign and feel nostalgic for something familiar.
A few recipes have changed, but the vibe is about the same. The shutdown did make changes mandatory (the plexiglass, the limited seating and other modifications to how they operate), but the staff remain friendly and understand the role this place has in the community.
It's where locals go to eat something that's not complicated, but tastes good (without spending too much money). There is no longer the kiosk for selling Keno or Lotto tickets, which means less clutter (but some of the older clients may miss being able to get a game in while waiting for their orders. It does however mean that those who hang out all day to play the lottery games have no more reason to "camp" there as they once did. So how you feel about that depends upon how you personally feel about games of chance in a restaurant.
They do get busy at times (sometimes a called in delivery order can take 1-2 hours at the highest demand). When you call, it's helpful to them if you could be strategic and tell them when you'd like to have your food at the door. So, for example: You call at three o'clock in the afternoon and let them know that you want it at your door by five o'clock. Then, you pay over the phone in advance; now, when dinnertime rolls around, they've already got your order and address processed with the ability to plan for all those last-minute "get it here now" kind of orders, and the driver can actually go into your neighborhood with several orders at once, without anyone getting cold food!
(That sounds like I used to do delivery work, sorry!)
Bottom line; it's good food at a fair price, but understand that when they get lots of orders, you're going to need to prepare for the wait. This is why more and more people place their orders in advance, and set that time for their delivery. Even if a mistake is made on an order (or, if something is not to your liking), they are very responsive, provided you let them know right away. So long as you respectfully tell them what you were not happy with, they will find out what happened and try to correct it.
They have gone so far as to replace an item that wasn't right.
Long story short, if you want to eat something straightforward and uncomplicated that tastes good...place your order and give them time to get...

Whilst searching for local eats that deliver, I came across pizza stop. Their website was really well put together and the menu offered a wide array of American Bar Cuisine and Pizza. I am a steak and cheese enthusiast so I try to get one from as many different places as possible.
The moment I call up and ask to make a delivery, the woman on the phone launched straight into what I wanted ordered. Having worked in various restaurants that did to-go and delivery, that was an immediate red flag for me. I had to stop her and ask if she wanted any information before we began that process. I could have been calling from California for all she knew.
After taking my address and phone number, she proceeded to take my order. When we were finished, she finally decides to tell me there's a 12$ min on deliveries. Had she told me from the beginning, there would have been better planning and less stress involved in the ordering process. I kept having to add things to my order to meet the minimum and once we met that min, she hastily said goodbye and hung up. I'm sitting here thinking in the back of my head "wait I'm forgetting something." and realized she never asked me what I wanted to drink. So I call back.
This time she end up telling me, in essence, that she wasn't paying attention and thought I had only wanted the sandwhich, and not the combo. So we go through the process again with me finally deciding on the steak and cheese special for 8.99$, adding bacon for 1.50$ and a tossed salad at 3.50$ hitting the min. She abruptly hangs up again, still neglecting to ask what I had wanted to drink.
15 minutes later, my order arrives, which I have to say was the fastest delivery time I have ever experienced. I tipped the driver and thanked him for his time.
So what did I find once I opened my order? No bacon.
Usually, this would be fine and I wouldn't write a negative review about it but I know all of this could have been avoided had the person taking orders had been more conscious and paid more attention to detail. She kept cutting me off and ignoring things I was saying over the phone. I do not recommend delivery...
Read moreI work from home and would come for the lunch specials twice per week. They raised the prices about a year ago and it’s no longer worth it. We ordered a pizza today and it was underdone.
For lunch, there are other places close by with equal or better food and value. Speranza has salads, pizzas, paninis with fries and full entrees (lasagna, chicken parm etc.) for $12.95 or less. There pizzas are really good. Big Greek Cafe has authentic, fresh gyros (not frozen like Pizza Stop) for $6 every Wednesday. La Brasa has fresh made, 1/2 chicken and 2 sides for $14.95 or 1/4 chick for 9.95. Twinbrook Deli has bigger and better subs including an Italian for $8.95 or burger and fries combo for $8-9. Angelo’s has Italian Subs for $6-7 every Thursday.
Pizza Stop was wonderful when they offered value but that’s no longer the case so I’ve found other places that do. Why would I come to Pizza Stop to get the $14 lunch special when I can get better, fresher food elsewhere? Speranza is my new favorite. Authentic Italian dishes made fresh to order with bigger portions, better food for less money. I can also enjoy beer or wine at Speranza and at La Brasa as well. Nothing personal against Pizza Stop but sharing honest feedback on why I’ve...
