Pollo Brasero — Restaurant in Maryland

The food was okay, I usually go to Don Pollo. But I was close by so I wanted to try this polleria out. I will start by saying that they only gave me two yellow sauces and what bother me the most was the lady at the register, she has no customer service skills whatsoever and comes off like a money hunger person. She check my bag to make sure they put in the bag what I order and nothing more extra, ( she was opening all the containers and check the bag like 3 times. And close the bag with a knot. I also order 1 empanada and when I open the bag in the counter in from of her, I saw that she did not put the empanada (but she did charge me for it) so I told her that she didn't give me the empanada. Then she proceeds to check my bag one more time to make sure that what I was telling her was correct. And then she doesn't say sorry or anything and just hangs me the empanada. If I had taken the bag to the car before checking and then came back to complain, she would have probably had said that she check the bag and everything was there and that I was lying. She comes off as a money hungry...

Best empanadas I've ever had. I don't even get them at other places because I know they won't live up to Pollo Brasero standards. The chicken, of course, is the star. The flavor is perfect. Truly finger-licking good. In fact, you might want a private moment alone to just dig in with abandon and finish off every last bit of flavor w/o worrying what you look like. It's that good. It always comes with sides, and we like various combinations of the veggies, mashed potatoes, beans, and rice primavera. Don't miss the chicken, but if you've already been several times before and want to try something new, try their tilapia dish with capers. They do a nice job with that one. As for atmosphere, this is a low-key place. Dine in is fine (clean, open, light, have a decent amount of tables) but not a formal sit-down restaurant. Polo Brasero is an absolute gem that I stumbled upon. I must say, they serve the best ceviche and saltenias I've ever had on the entire East Coast!
