You see the like... 3 negative reviews for this place? That's because those people are expecting more than they're paying for, or just don't order sushi they actually like.
The chicken hibachi box is my go-to favorite. Satisfying for ~$8 with double meat, and if you don't eat a lot like me, there's usually leftovers. The sushi is bomb, the fusion rolls are the "good" sushi imo, the $5 rolls are okay but a little bland.. but what do you expect when most of them are the simpler kinds, usually just fish and a veggie and rice. My personal favorite is the dynamite roll. Lots of textures with a sauce that wraps it up nicely.
If you order the hibachi or bento boxes, the noodles are the worst of the carb options when choosing noodles/rice. I mean if I'm craving noodles they hit the spot, but the fried rice is where it's at. You'll want the fried rice, trust me. The dumplings that come with the bento box are really good too. The california roll that comes with the box? It's eh, like I said the simpler sushi rolls here aren't as good as the fusion rolls, but they'll substitute a 4pc veggie (avocado & cucumber) roll at least, possibly others but I haven't asked.
The people are awesome and customer service has always been friendly and fast. The only real complaint I would make about this place at all is for management to advise all employees that customers should be able to pay over the phone. My boyfriend has done this several times when I'm on a trip home and can pick food up but don't have money myself. Had to put his $40 sushi-craving order on my credit card because a different employee than he normally places an order with took his order that night and said he couldn't pay...
Read moreThis is a great little teriyaki place. They feature bento box style entrees that are quite good with a variety of items: a meat, rice or noodles, fried dumplings, California roll, and salad. They do a really good job of preparation with the meats. When I get chicken it always has those crispy bits that I love. Portion sizes are not bad. The salad actually has cucumber and carrots in it, and they use a nice sweet dressing. Dumplings are fried fresh to order. The rice is good too, although the fried rice is really just made using a lot of soy sauce and not always mixed so well.
Besides the bento boxes, they also offer a small but decent selection of sushi. It comes served on a styrofoam plate, but easily compares to some regular sushi places in the area. The rice is fresh and they are generous with the ingredients in side. I like to order a roll with spicy tuna or something to contrast with the sweet teriyaki entrees.
The facility is nice and clean, with a small dining area on the end of the strip mall. A lot of business is carryout, so it is never really crowded. Definitely worth trying out if you are in the area and looking for teriyaki pared with some nice...
Read moreUpdate: yet again this place was super behind on their orders. I placed an order that was supposed to be ready in 25 minutes I come by at 35 minutes. The guy finds my order charges me for it and then tells me it's going to be another 25 minutes. At 7:30 at night on a Tuesday, this isn't even peak dinner time. Who on earth just charges someone without telling them their food is nowhere close to being ready. I don't have 25 minutes to just waste waiting in on already late food. This is literally basic sushi and hibachi that takes over an hour for them to make and it is not worth it.
It's super messed up how they don't update their website or give any indication that they're backed up at all. And they lie to you about when your food's going to be ready. If you value your time over cheap food might as well order from any other sushi place in Crofton that'll taste better and you can pick it up in a reasonable amount of time.
Original review:
The food is all right, super cheap, the service can be a little bit hit or miss sometimes they're extremely backed up and you have to wait an hour for your carryout that was supposed to be ready...
