I was raised, partly, by folks from their side of the world. I started eating this delicious cuisine when I was in high school in Georgetown, DC in 1973. I had the pleasure of eating Nepalese and Kashmiri Cuisine, Indian and Pakistani alike from chefs hands hot off the oven. I became enamored and helped design and build over 11 restaurants replete with Tandoori ovens, fresh Naan, fresh yogurt, cured over night, Samosas and Punjabi breakfast with Cardamon tea and Chapati amongst other delights and desserts. I also designed the storefront signs, windows and interiors of over 11 of them back when Tandoor and Maharaja Restaurants were the rave of Georgetown. I became their artist and interior designer. This is one of the most fantastic finds I have had the pleasure of discovering since. Their Chicken Biriyani is one of the most savory I have ever had the pleasure of consuming on a month to month basis. I ate this kind of food daily and miss a great restaurant with home cooked flavor. Well, not any more. I visit this place bi-weekly if not a couple a times a week when I can. I would highly recommend visiting Mr. Oais and his mother's place whenever you can and whenever you come to Maryland or the DC area. I grew up eating from a place that was an award winner and written up in Washingtonian Magazine for over a decade. Many, including the prime minister of India, back in the '70s and '80s ate there. This, is a step above. With no embellishment, I have even had the pleasure of eating at embassy functions and I am totally enamored with this place. That should let you know I am well acquainted and know a fantastic dish of food when I come across one. I will be dining here until it is no longer possible....

Update 4/24/19 —
We’ve been enjoying ordering food from this place since we moved in to the area about two years ago. However, the last few months, we’ve always had issues with our orders, from getting the wrong items to having part of our order missing. It doesn’t help that when we call the restaurant to report the issue, either the staff doesn’t understand, they have no idea what to do or get told the restaurant is closed even though we called to report the issue around 9pm and the restaurant closes at 930pm. Also, their food portions have decreased as well.
Last night we gave it a try once again — we ordered a bunch of food. I ordered the ground beef kabob roll, but received the beef steak kabob roll. Wife ordered beef steak kabob but received steak salad. The chicken tenders with fries usually has 6 pieces and last night it only had four. At that point due to our similar past experience, we didn’t even bother to call the restaurant.
This has been happening over and over again. Most likely won’t be ordering from here again. It’s unfortunate since their food is decent and it’s convenient for us, but the frequent mess ups and missing items and lack of customer service has turned us away.
One star is for the fact that their food is delivered in a...
Read moreSo this is my second time ordering the first time I got chicken biryani, and chickpeas It was early in the morning when I ordered, everything was very tasty and fresh. I was craving so I tried to order again. The second time the chicken biryani was not chicken biryani. It was rice and chicken, bones, unseasoned and dried the chickpeas was hard completely different flavor from last time. I am so angry because I was really looking forward to my food. The food is completely inconsistent and I have noticed some of it smell bad, especially the yogurt sauce. I unfortunately will never order from them again Because you’re expecting to get the same thing every time and that’s not what you’re gonna get at all literally the rice it’s not Baroni. It’s just rice with chicken bones, and the chicken pieces are...
