Jamaica Gee's — Restaurant in Maryland

I first spoke to reggie the owner on the phone, who seemed friendly to me and I said he welcomed me to visit his restaurant. I decided to venture out there to check it out today. It was a very long drive of about 30 min from my place. I got there right before they were supposed to open, before 11am. I had to wait another 25 minutes before the 'cashier' woman shows up to collect the payment. the chef Winston was there and he promised it was going to be fine.

well after nearly an hour of waiting, I got the food and paid $25.08 for the meal. it was costly but I figure if the food is good I will be happy. unfortunately the portion was very tiny, with small pieces of oxtails and barely enough for even a lunch portion. where I come from in bronx, Brooklyn NY, you can get at least double the portion for the same price. worst of all, the customer service attitude from the lady was not friendly at all . I asked nicely for a receipt after the transaction, the receipt got printed, and she started to play with her IPAD, I didn't want to reach for the receipt printer myself, so I had to ask again, then she impatiently pulled out the receipt and handed it to me.

the overall experience was not pleasant. Unfortunately based on my negative experience I cannot recommend anyone else to visit here. in today's economy, a qualified customer has many choices in the neighborhood to spend his/her hard earned money.

this restaurant culture to me, does NOT believe in nor encourage and ensure customer satisfaction, courtesy, and loyalty. I am a business owner myself and I feel that having a happy recurring customer is SUCH A HIGHLY VALUED TREASURE, I would ask all of my staff to do anything to retain these customers (NEW AND OLD). Especially if the customer travelled 30 minutes to reach your business, and HAD to wait nearly another 30 minutes due to the lateness of the employee / cashier on duty!

I chose this restaurant because I wanted something better than “Carribean Grill” that’s all that I know of in this area. I ordered through “Door Dash”. I spent $34 on food (not including the services fees) my receipt says “Oxtail Meal, Small Jerk Chicken by itself. I added a Beef Patty + Cocoa Bread” and a Curry Chicken Meal= $34.48. I’ve been calling since my dasher dropped my food off. Well over 10 minutes ago. The phone is just busy. I would like to know where my cocoa bread and beef patty are? I was really hoping I would have a better experience based off of reviews. Needless to say I would like my refund or what I paid for. Hopefully this can be resolved. I gave it a three bc the jerk chicken is def bomb and the cabbage.

4/12/2021 @4:47pm This is in response to the owner: I’ve been ordering through”Door Dash” for over a year now so I’m going aware of the “terms and conditions” as well as the fine print that most people do not bother reading. I have a complete detailed receipt in my order history that shows that I did “add” on a beef patty and cocoa bread. I can email it to you and show you in person if need be. And again I tried calling several times bc my printed receipt stated it also, but the phone never rang- just busy all night. I was looking for a resolution rather than a rebuttal. OMG, the best Jamaican food I have had in years. My son gave a friend a ride home and smelled the food. The next day he went back and got us the fish. The best Jamaican fish that I have ever had, bar none. Don't listen to the negative reviews, this place is amazing. I don't eat out often, and used to go to Pimento's, their food is horrible now. Not sure who they have in the kitchen, but because the food was so bad, I stopped eating out period. Gee's fish and veggies have me salivating whenever I think about it. I've got to try and figure out how to add them to my budget. I've got to eat here at least twice a week now. I have an update. I went back 2 weeks after I originally went to g's and I was very disappointed. I had the fish again it was as small as the palm of my hand and they didn't give me the vegetables that go on top of the fish. My sister got the jerk chicken and it wasn't jerked it was barbecue just like every other Jamaican restaurant that you go to in this area.
