VEGETARIAN TAKE standard fare Salvadoran. bigger than some, but still family style, unpretentious. small bar, maybe 20 tables, water-closet-style bathrooms.

decent beans, decent pupusas (don't know if they make their own, but the temperature was perfect); salsa's ok. they have plantanos fritos & tamales de elote, so a step above some menus. i got a salad with hot beans & vegetables in it, and liked it. fall had burritos & enchiladas to mixed reviews.

we did wait a LONG time after ordering (maybe 40 min?), with maybe 4 tables in the whole place. but it all came out together, nice & hot, and well put together. got the impression maybe only one person was cooking at the time, like home cooking. i did order a lot of different things. i don't have a problem with that at all, but some a y'all... don't show up and act the fool. it's ready when it's ready.

if you like slightly-less-heavy inoffensively-seasoned Salvadoran, you'll do fine. if you're not a good sport about kind-of-basic but pleasant, hearty stuff, maybe it's not for you i'd rank it between El Golfo and Haydee's.

I wanted to like this place based on other reviews and I hate to leave a bad reviews for small businesses, but this was one of the most underwhelming dining experiences in memory. The service was slow and our waitress got our order wrong repeatedly despite careful explanation (I ordered a chicken papusa and medium steak and was served bean papusa and well done steak, dessert was similarly misunderstood, waters were not refulled until I asked for it along with the check ). They had no meat kids meals so I ordered my 6 year old an adult Carne asada, which was a medium well rather than the requested well done. My Carne Asada was chewey, tough and flavorless. The beans were similarly flavorless and the rice was flat. To be fair, my spinach and cheese papusa was very good and one of the best in the area, and my wife did enjoy her Lomo saltada. Gratuity was automatic as well. Avoid if you have other options, and if the much better and nearby Vitorias happens to be open, which it feels like is...

Ordered mojarra frita. Tried a few bites and sent it back because it tasted like fish was not fresh and it had water inside. The waitress said the manager was the cook and she said there was nothing wrong with it. They charged me and when I asked for the manager she said she had served fish all day and nobody complained and basically that I wasn't trying to pay for it that's why I sent it back. I was livid and said I have money to pay my entire bill and wasn't gonna pay for the fish bc I wasn't satisfied w it. I have eaten there before w my entire family and our food was fine but today the fish wasn't and she couldnt accept that. ..I have never felt insulted in this manner.
