This has been my local mall since I was a child and now that I’m out of the area I come far less often.
I remember years ago when the Macy’s came everyone thought the mall was finally going to be something. Anyone whose been to the Macy’s at Montgomery mall or Tyson’s knows now that not all Macy’s are created the same.
A lot of the bigger retailers have left and the smaller shops are taking over, which is fine but some would argue it takes down the quality of the mall.
The amc has been closed due to covid and the Bar Louie left since they filed for bankruptcy. To be honest a lot of stores are leaving for the same reason.
To be honest it’s a bit strange that you have million dollar townhomes with elevators right behind the mall and then the mall which is tying by but succeeding. There are some new gems in there that elevate the mall, bus increasingly other stores that don’t match.
It’s a mismatched mall. That’s the best word for it. And i don’t know what they are looking to be.
Some have said it’s going to be the new white flint with some of the mall kept intact but the rest of if being tuned into housing- which to be honest may be of more value in the area.
Again this mall is functional, it serves its purpose but doesn’t seem to be cared about as much as the other Westfield branded malls...

Westfield Wheaton is one of the most convenient and well-rounded shopping centers in the D.C.–Maryland area. It has an excellent mix of major retailers, smaller boutiques, restaurants, and essential services, all under one roof. The mall is spacious, clean, and well maintained, with wide walkways and plenty of seating areas that make it comfortable to spend time in. The parking situation is surprisingly easy compared to many other malls in the region — there’s always space available, and the garages are well lit and clearly marked.
The variety of stores is impressive: from Macy’s and Target to Best Buy and H&M, plus a solid food court offering everything from quick snacks to full meals. I especially appreciate how the management has kept the mall lively with seasonal decorations, events, and small pop-up shops that add character. Security presence is visible, which makes the atmosphere feel safe even during busy weekends.
Overall, Westfield Wheaton offers a relaxed and enjoyable shopping experience without the overcrowded chaos of larger malls. Whether you’re doing a quick errand run or spending a weekend afternoon browsing, this mall strikes a great balance between convenience and comfort. Highly recommended for locals and...
Read moreAs a resident of Washington D.C., I found myself in need of a reliable and trustworthy repair shop to fix my laptop, which contained a significant amount of important information. After reaching out to various locations, I was disappointed to learn that they were unable to assist me. I had previously had a terrible experience with another shop that claimed to be able to perform the necessary micro soldering repair, only to make the issue worse. I was initially hesitant when I was approached by a repair shop in Virginia, as they quoted me an exorbitant fee of $400. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I learned about Smartfix in Wheaton Mall, who assured me that they could fix my laptop for under $120, and offered a guarantee that I wouldn't be charged if they were unable to repair it. I was further impressed by the positive reviews and my experience with the two knowledgeable and professional technicians at Smartfix. Within an hour, my laptop was fully repaired and I was charged only $80. I highly recommend Smartfix for their excellent customer service, affordability, and exceptional repair capabilities. I am now a fan of this mall and hope to see these two gentlemen continue to flourish in their field. Tony and Sam are the best!!...
