Went for the first time today with my mom and unfortunately, was not a fan. The coffee was room temperature, and the portions were lacking for the price. To pay $15 for a Reuben with barely any meat/ingredients on it is pretty disappointing. I understand prices have gone up everywhere, but at least make the food worth it. My mom ordered the Arbutus Plate 12, which reads - "Pick 1: choice of breakfast meat or avocado, Pick 2: 2 farm eggs cooked to order, breakfast potatoes, choice of bread, single pancake, or single french toast". She ordered bacon, eggs over medium, with white toast. We had assumed the breakfast potatoes came with it and you got a "choice" of bread, single pancake, or single french toast, so I told the person at the counter that the potatoes were missing and he explained that she would've needed to add them as an extra or picked those instead of the bread option. If that's the case then the menu item should read: "Arbutus Plate 12, Pick 1: choice of breakfast meat or avocado, Pick 2: Choice of 2 farm eggs cooked to order, breakfast potatoes, bread, single pancake, OR single french toast." in order to avoid any other confusion. I will say that they did provide us with the breakfast potatoes at no extra cost and they were delicious. The appearance of the place is pretty bleak and there was a lot of unpleasant banging going on in the back which made it hard to focus on a...
Read moreIf you think they have a small menu there's a reason for that, every dish that came out for my friends and I were thought out and extremely well made. I really hope they keep that philosophy if they decide to expand the menu because it was one of the best breakfasts I'll ever have at a restaurant. chefs kiss
I ordered what I thought was a simple cheese and bacon omelet, nothing is so simple at Martha's. Turns out when I cut into it there was some kind of creamy gravy? The gravy on it's own didn't have any distinct flavor but combined with everything else it was simply amazing. Y'all ruined omelets for me now, hope your happy. Oh yeah I also ordered a Belgium waffle with ice cream (greatly overestimated my appetite) and maple butter... this place can't be doing this to me, I can't be doing this to myself 😭
Currently serving mocktails which has me thinking they're applying for a liquor license. Hoping they have gluten free options for my friend with celiacs.
They're a new buisness in town, I slept on them for a while but to make up for it I wanted to write this review. I really hope they stick around as I could see them being another strong pillar of Arbutus. I'll be checking out the...
Read moreThis could be such a great little place. We were there on a Sunday for breakfast and there were about three tables occupied. You order at the counter so there is no wait staff. If you forget to order something you have to go back to the counter and order it, don’t forget to pick up your fixings. There were three young ladies behind the counter who didn’t seem too busy as there was a lot chatting and cell phone usage, it seemed like a social club meeting for the staff and in the meantime if a customer needs anything, you need to fend for yourself. Nonetheless, the food was tasty but served lukewarm which is not great; coffee and toast are not part of the breakfast platter so don’t forget to order that separately. It was about $4 for one cup of coffee but you can have unlimited refills. The rye bread was really quite good. The bathrooms definitely need a good cleaning as floors and walls were dirty! Things do not go unnoticed! We paid about $36 for two. As mentioned before, it could be a great place, but management really needs to review their concept and details. Too much staff for too little service. There’s no way a tip of 20%...
