They add a 15% tip for parties of five, which would be OK if it gave good service then they split my parties checks into three different checks and still charge the service fee. The friend that I was with was informed that the dish she ordered wasn’t available or Orders went in at the same time and after the waitress lied that she had split everything onto four different checks my friend and his food was on the same check. It took almost 2 hours for my simple cheeseburger to come out I ordered a Swiss and mushroom burger and what came out was a cheeseburger with fried onions, lettuce and tomato then I ordered a refill on my Coke, which then t Was ignored then when my friends ordered refills on their alcoholic drinks, I had to try to order a Coke a third time I went up front and spoke to the manager and another waitress and it still took almost 2 hours to get the food. My friend’s dishes had come out on time and we’re finished and we’re looking at ordering something else by the time I even receive my food, which was the wrong order for three drinks a Coke a burger and a sub my check was $90. This is the worst service I have ever received in my life and I wouldn’t even recommend that anybody’s dog go to this place and when I complain to management, all I got was excuses and nasty comments. Huge competition in the neighborhood and I feel MacAvoy's overrides the competition in every aspect. The food is well prepared and priced conservatively. The specials are Awesome, priced well, prepared well and good portions. Even though it is not a Steak house, they serve the Best Steak in the area. I swear! Besides that there are some great dishes to choice from. Their catering is superb. I had my mother's wake there and the food was very good, and there was Plenty of Food for everyone, and the package that they gave me as far as pricing, and quality, could not be beat, to the point that I recently used their catering services again, for my daughter's Baby shower which I had at Boordy Vineyards. They pared the food with Boordy wine, How Special!! Overall, its a great place to have fun!! And the owners are always willing to help with charity, or help with an event, to support someone or something other than themselves. Kind souls. Also great bands, every weekend. And if you want to meet new people there are plenty ways to do it at MacAvoys's. Give it a try, its ALWAYS been a GREAT...

Went there on wing night and for most of the night, everything was great. Wings are big and the sauces are tasty. That’s where the fun stops.

For most of the night our bartender was polite and attentive…. Until we asked for a box for our wings. We didn’t realize how big the wings are and couldn’t finish 4 out of 24 between the two of us.

Our bartender decided to berate us and give us flak because we didn’t finish them. Granted, before we ordered he advised they really don’t like people using wing night for a “take out” order. Point taken. That wasn’t our intent. We were there long enough for 4 drinks and worked up a decent tab. Yet, the bartender decided to be rude about us asking for a box. Mind you, the people next to us did the same thing and he said nothing to them when they requested a box.

Now I’m home pissed off on a night where my lady and I were kid free and had a night out. Not cool.

We might return, might not. It’s a shame because this is a local bar that we like to support. However, after tonight, we might be looking for another place to patronize.
