Milano's Pizza & Pasta — Restaurant in Maryland

I recently ordered catered food from Milano's as we wanted to try out Italian. To say that I was blown away is an understatement.

After tasting Milano's pizzas, pastas and their garlic bread, I do not think I will ever order Italian from regular chains. The big chain pizza joint in front of my house is not bad; but nothing holds in front of what Milano's delivered. What's more impressive is that it looks very effortless for them; I don't believe they put in any extra effort to prepare my food.

The pizza crust, the garlic bread texture and taste, and even their Caesar salad were so good, that we actually almost ran out of pizzas. That too, when all the pizza had was tomatos and a few basil leaves on the top (we didn't experiment with toppings; we surely will next time). Even when the pizzas and garlic bread got cold, we put them in a toaster over for a couple of mins, and they were elevated like magic. I cannot remember the last time I had such a strong craving for a simple pizza.

This place is unassuming in appearance, but really good at delivering top quality Italian food. I am glad we got their food, and we will frequent it many times from now on. I cannot imagine getting pizzas from...

So it’s really sad I have to do this. I’ve ordered here numerous times- see picture on my yelp just for this month for proof. I’ve always had wonderful service, expect for this week. It was over an hour when I called the store for an update. The lady was so rude, her response was “the driver left awhile ago.” Now that response didn’t make me happy because I already said it’s been an hour. She wouldn’t provide any helpful information, which made me respond with “I will call back if it’s cold.” Mind you when it arrived it was barely warm, I didn’t even call, I let it go. Went to place and order this evening, and my number has been “blocked out of the system” so he hung up on me. I called back, he said not sure but your number is blocked, I said that’s probably because I made the lady mad I spoke to. I asked for the manager to call me, can’t wait to discuss this. I’ve worked customer service since I was 15 years old, and never would I handle a customer the way they’ve chosen to, and this is over pizza. This is strictly a carryout restaurant so that's why the atmosphere gets a 1.

The food is mostly good but could be better. All the entrees I've ordered have been great tasting and have large portion sizes so they are a great value.

The item that is not so good tasting or a great value is their $10 pizza deal on Mondays. They have a standing offer for a large, up to I belive 10 toppings for 10 dollars. But it's obvious that the there are much less of each topping than what I've experienced from every pizza I've ever bought in my 35 years of adulthood. As a result the pizza is lacking is flavor, which means the plain cheese must really be bland. I recommend the spaghetti, meatballs, the calzone and the salads.

I know why they offer the deal so that it acts as a loss leader but if it's not good it fails in that regard. Why would someone try the pizza deal on a first visit come back and try other menu items if the pizza is lackluster?
