This is the kind of bagel place that makes you a bagel the way you really want it, with an unhealthy amount of cream cheese that we all want to indulge in from time to time.
After seeing this place for years and always curious to try it out, I finally had my first Bethesda Bagels experience.
I'm a sucker for a good everything bagel, covered with plain cream cheese of course, and I can't think of a better way to top it off without smoked salmon, red onions and capers. And that's exactly what I ordered at this place.
I came through on a Wednesday morning, there were only a handful of people ahead of me. I hear the lines can be really long on the weekends, and after having one of their bagels, I can see why.
When I got my bagel, I first noticed how heavy my bagel was. Literally, my bagel was heavy, which I knew meant they really packed my bagel - instant brownie points and it only got better. As I was unwrapping my bagel, it looked like it was on steroids. This place may be a bit pricey, but for good reasons. They put a very generous portion of cream cheese on the bagel and are equally as generous with the toppings you ask for.
The verdict? Delicious. I'll be coming back and bringing people with me. The only downside is that it's difficult and messy to eat because of the sheer amount of cream cheese they put on the bagel. Even though I am obsessed with cream cheese, I actually thought there was a little too much for my liking. I am shocked that I am saying this, but it's true. At times, I realized I was biting through an inch of cream cheese! Nonetheless, I...
Read moreI've ordered from here quite often because I work in the Bethesda area over the past 3 years but after today, I will not be ordering from here ever again quite literally. Upon picking up my order for my team who i work with, I was brashly demanded by a Bethesda Bagels employee (shorter hispanic woman) that I NEEDED to show her an order number for each order made (4 in total) otherwise she would not be able to give me my orders. I've given order names in the past over 3 years time and picked up with NO issue up until today. A different very nice employee from BB was able to help me and gave me my order with No issues when i simply gave her the order names. Bethesda Bagels is way too busy and cramped to demand order numbers when im simply trying to pick up and get out asap. I dont know what issues you guys have had in the past to switch your pickup process because before I didnt even have to have encounters with rude employees bc i would pickup my order myself from the shelf which is now moved closer to the back away from customers. I dont need to steal anyones bagel for gods sake its only 10 dollars but i felt like a thief by the way i was rudely demanded a measly number. Needless to say, please train some of your employees on how to be more respectful at the very Least. and also, please stop forgetting the bacon on a Bacon egg and...
Read moreBest New Jersey-quality bagel sandwiches one can find in the area, truly.
🥯Bagels - Large and fluffy with a crunchy outside. The ideal bagel. Very fair pricing (for the area) for a dozen bagels.
🧈Spreads - Both the regular cream cheese spread and chive spread tubs are reasonably priced (for the area) and are rich/creamy. I definitely recommend taking a tub for your fridge.
🐷Bagel sandwiches - The Taylor Ham needs to be cooked longer. It’s always too undercooked. Bagel enthusiasts are looking for crisped edges, not a raw slab of pork. Egg portions are heavy. For TOASTED bagel sandwiches, the bagel needs to be toasted. Everytime I've ordered a THE&C-SP (toasted), the bagel is only warmed. (-1🌟)
🧑🏼🍳Service/Speed - The staff are very friendly and even when there’s a line out the door, they still manage to get through everyone pretty quickly. They tend to run out of whole-wheat everything bagels often though, fyi
OVERALL, great place to grab a bagel, some spreads, or a bagel sandwich. For many, the lightly toasted bagel and undercooked TH is forgivable, for me, it's a B+ in...
