This is a diamond in the rough find. I've checked out a number of Thai restaurants in the DC area and went on a Thai restaurant hunt in Manhattan a couple years back hitting all the top reviewed places. This is better than them all. Unlike many other places, even the simple things on the menu such as the kanoom jeeb and spring rolls are made on premise, not purchased pre-made and dropped in a fryer.
The specialty dish, "Thai Cuisines Spicy" is unique and gets the perfect balance for a partly fried sweet/hot dish. The meat is not over-battered like in many places, the green beans and peppers are not fried at all but perfectly sauteed, the sweet hot sauce is spicy but not overbearing, and the perfect amount of sauce is used where many places would ladle it on like syrup.
The "Panang Red Curry" is simply to die for, I could drink the curry sauce like soup. It may be the spiciest dish but is not overt nor even an immediate heat.
Dining in: I don't believe they serve alcohol and it's a tiny restaurant with maybe 3-4 tables. That said, they do make a decent attempt to give the place a Thai feel, as minimalist as it may be. With so few tables, once you are seated, service is prompt.
Dining out: I'm certain this is how most customers go. They are obviously well known in town for their excellent food and can get quite busy with lots of take out calls, sometimes to the point you get a busy signal. If this happens, keep trying, they'll eventually get to you and it is worth the usually short wait. I find it is quicker to take out vs have it delivered. They get too busy and in my opinion don't have a big enough operation to support a robust delivery service, but I have gotten successful deliveries on a few occasions.
Summary: This place is the real deal and a must try for anyone who appreciates good...
Read moreUpdate 2: 2 and a half years going to this place, they have gone from a take out to a dine in, and then the quarantine comes! I am so happy with the food, the service, the staff that work here. It has been a great experience throughout. Very happy to see their success, and very happy that they are being so thoughtful and careful right now.
Update: This has now become a weekly take out spot. I’ve tried pretty much everything on the menu and I have not been disappointed. The food is consistently good! I can’t wait for their new location to open.
I have one word. WOW!! I’m new to the area and finding really good food has not been easy. I saw the reviews and decided to give this place a shot. It is a hole in the wall but the food was really good and authentic. I got takeout and the lady at the register was very sweet and courteous. I got Tom Kha soup, it was very flavorful and light but filling. I also got chicken Pad Thai. The flavor was spot on and the portion was very generous indeed. I’m a small eater so it’ll make for multiple meals. I feel like I walked away with a lot of good food for not a lot of money. I’ll definitely be back and I’m looking forward to trying some of their curries and entrees. Great Thai iced tea too while I waited.

Read moreMy family and I have been dining in and placing pick-up orders for years, and I can honestly say the service for us has dramatically declined. The food is great, but it seems like ever since we started bringing in our own bottled spring water to drink (which they don't sell), the two female servers who are normally there have become very cold and unwelcoming to us. We don't drink tap water from any other restaurant, so why would we drink it at yours?! If you don't want people bringing in outside drinks, then offer a better selection of drinks. 🤯🤯🤯 During our most recent visit, both servers managed to successfully ignore us our entire stay while constantly checking on all the other guests. Then, when we decided to leave, the server placed carry-out boxes on our table instead of offering to package the food like they did for every other guest who was leaving. We've always spoken very highly of this restaurant over the years, but not anymore. Not after managing to ruin our dining experience once again. We'll be sure to share our negative experiences with as many people in the community as...
