I've been to several OTF studios and this is definitely my top favorite!
Another coach whose classes I've taken a few times and really enjoyed is Mello. I have to say this - his music taste is bomb af. Not really a coach skill, but it merits recognition. Mello is an incredible coach who knows how to motivate and guide his class. He has this positive attitude that encourages people to want to do better. One thing he did that I will never forget is when he helped me with this really painful cramp I suddenly experienced on my hip while doing a workout. When I approached him with this problem and told him that I might have to leave the class, instead of just letting me leave, he told me to get a mat and to stay so that he can stretch out my hip. As he was stretching me out, he was also giving out instructions to the class and keeping track of the time. I was astonished at how he showed immediate care and concern for my well being. I was even able to continue the rest of the class without any pain. Now that's what I call quality coaching!
Alright, I think that's enough ass kissing. OTF Olney, thank you for...
Ā Ā Ā Read more06/21: Per the promotion, I joined as an Elite Member (8 classes per month) for $129.00/monthly, to be billed on the 21st of every month.
06/23: Attended my first class at the OrangeTheory in Rockville.
07/08: Attended my first class at the OrangeTheory in Park Potomac.
09/04 & 10/03: OrangeTheory Charged my credit card on file for the $129.00/monthly membership. I never received correspondence from OrangeTheory as to why the billing date has changed.
10/06: Attended my last class at the OrangeTheory in Rockville. 10/07: Attended my last class at the OrangeTheory in Park Potomac.
11/01: Emailed OrangeTheory, requesting to cancel my membership and requesting directions for the next steps. An OrangeTheory personnel responded and told me that I needed to FWD the email to their manager and that the manager would take care of it for me. I FWD the email over to the manager.
11/04: OrangeTheory Charged my credit card on file for the $129.00/monthly membership. Contacted my credit card and informed them that I had sent an email to OrangeTheory, requesting the cancellation. Thought that they had billed me accidentally. My credit card company provided me with the credit back to my account.
11/23: Received a phone call from OrangeTheory. The personnel stated that she was calling because she noticed that I havenāt taken a class for three (3) weeks, and she wanted to know if she could book a class for me. I informed her that I was at the airport, on my way out of the country, and that I was confused since Iād sent an email requesting to cancel my membership.
11/27: Still out of the country, I received an email from Cassandra Lansing, the studio manager at the OrangeTheory in Rockville. She informed me that they did not have any records of my cancellation form and that if I was unable to provide the cancellation form, then they needed to chargeback to be paid. I informed her of my situation (Iām planning on splitting my time between the states and Europe and that I wouldnāt be able to utilize my membership). I never heard back from anyone after I'd FWD the email to the studio manager.
11/30: Cassandra informed me that they needed a thirty (30) day notice and that a cancellation form needed to be signed and sent to their studio in Rockville. She reiterated that they where never aware of the cancellation and I needed to pay $129.00; otherwise, they will not provide the cancellation form for me to fill out and complete. If they donāt receive a cancellation form, then they will consider my account active and they will continue to bill me. I wanted the cancellation form first to review prior to remitting any payment. OrangeTheory refused to provide the forms unless I pay the $129.00 first.
12/04: OrangeTheory charged my credit card on file for the $129.00/monthly membership. They changed their name from "OrangeTheory Rockville" to āOTF Rockvilleā in order to run the unauthorized charged. This was disputed.
12/13: Received an email from OrangeTheory thanking me for my ārecent in-studio charge.ā The charge is in the amount of $139.00, to be charged on 01/04/23. I never authorized nor did I agree to this.
12/14: Received a letter from Kinum informing me that theyāre a debt collection company and that theyāre trying to collect a debt for $129.00 owed to OrangeTheory. The letter was dated 12/05/2022.
The interaction felt like they were trying to extort me for money first before they would release the form to me. Similar to other former members, I've filed a report against this OrangeTheory to the Consumer Protection Division, Federal Trade Commission, Maryland Attorney General, and Better Business Bureau.
According to another former member, this OrangeTheory and the location in Rockville are under the...
Read moreThe workouts here are amazing and I've never experienced the same workout twice. Overall the staff is great; trainers (⤠Brittany) and front desk (⤠Christina). Some trainers are a little less to be desired; I'm not exactly motivated by overtly pushy sometimes insulting trainers.
Now to my reason for the 3 star rating and canceling my $169 a month membership.
OTF Olney isn't always service oriented; example if you register for a class and no show or don't cancel 8 hours in advance, you pay for it (in my case $12) and honestly avoiding the fee motivates me, so that's fear.
what I most certainly did not know is that showing up 5 or 10 minutes late means, no entry into a class you hauled ass out of bed or work for, drove 20 plus minutes and circled round for parking (parking SUCKS) AND STILL get no entry AND charged a $12 fee.
the policy seems to be enforced randomly depending on who's at the front desk because there's been plenty of times where people have walked into classes 15 minutes into a workout. Today i was given some arbitrary reason about workout hazard for why i was denied entry. I call total BS because we don't warm up EVER.
im leaving because if you have a life then these policies won't work and to be so inflexible is mindblowing at $169 a month plus these stupid fees for arriving "too late". Not only that; this a lot of money to pay for a fitness membership that doesnt incorporated nutrition.
it appears that each club make up their own policies regarding late/cancel fees becsuse the club my friends club in Jersey has yet to charge her a late fee for canceling out of the 8 hour time period š
Great workouts, great trainers, great facility (less parking), but not service oriented. You need to be...
