Zheng's China Express — Restaurant in Maryland

I am completely willing to give a 5 star review for Chinese take out that's even somewhat decent. My standards are pretty low for this type of cuisine, yet I was still very disappointed with the quality of the food. I got the #9 lunch combo which has shrimp, fried rice, broccoli, and lo mein. Everything was bland and overcooked except for the broccoli. The sauce was so thick, it had the consistency of Elmer's glue, yet it tasted like nothing more than corn starch and MSG. The lo mein was mushy and again lacking flavor. The Fried Rice was swimming in oil, no egg or vegetable to give it character, just plain, oily, overcooked rice. That's where I draw the line. Of all the things to mess up how do you mess up that fried rice? That would be a sin In any Chinese home. The owners and the people working there all speak Chinese, so there's really no excuse for that. Either they found all the Chinese people that don't know how to cook, or they're just not trying. On top of that, the waiting area is dirty and poorly arainged which is not unusual I suppose. The only reason I didn't give one star is because the food is cheap and they prepared it quickly. We ordered the honey shrimp,I got the Honey chicken and a half n half ($33).. I always get shrimp fried rice , a small shrimp fried rice was about $8 so the young girl charged my card cool . Once my food get done I forgot to get a egg roll so I ordered one the lady charged me $9 for 1 egg roll I didn’t realize it at first then came back a few mins later to get a refund she blamed it on the young girl who took my order the first time but in reality she charged me extra🤦🏾‍♀️I should of looked at my receipt before leaving out but sometimes you forgot .
