Went in today (2nd time this week) to get ice cream with the family. I have always had a pleasant experience at this location and actually drive further from my home just to go to this location. Well, today was a whole different experience. There were three young girls working today (I didn't see any adults at all). The girl taking my order was very sweet. After receiving our order, my son mentioned that there were hardly any chocolate sprinkles on my vanilla ice cream. I am at this location quite frequently and agreed so I went to ask if I could get more chocolate sprinkles. I was extremely kind when asking one of the young blonde girls (there were two blondes - I do not know their names so to identify them, one was taller with air pods in her ears and a rounder face and the other was shorter - the one making the ice cream). I explained to the young girl making the ice creams that there are usually more sprinkles on the ice cream cones and would she mind giving me just a few more. I asked kindly and said please. She rolled her eyes directly at me, proceeded to get a small black cup, put some sprinkles in it and handed them to me. I said Thank you and she looked at me and rolled her eyes again! As I walked away, my son said she gave me a very dirty look. After sitting down my son had just started on his blizzard. The toppings he had requested were not in it (no cookie dough - it was the superman Blizzard). There were actually hardly any toppings in it and it wasn't think like your typical blizzard. He asked for no rainbow sprinkles and M&Ms instead. It was $6.80 for just his Blizzard because they up-charged instead of just swapping out the topping which I think is ridiculous. We didn't say anything about his Blizzard because we already got an attitude just asking for a few more chocolate sprinkles. When we were done eating our ice cream, I went up to the counter and asked the girl that rolled her eyes at me what her managers name was. She responded with Pam. I guess she realized I was actually doing to contact the manager. I explained to her that it was horrible customer service to roll your eyes at customers when no one was rude to her in any way. I guess she realized I was going to actually contact a manager so she responded with, "I didn't roll my eyes at you and didn't mean to do anything to offend you." As I was walking out, the other blonde stepped in (the one that had the air pods in her ears with the rounder face and taller) and yelled, "You can leave now! You can go! Bye!" She did this in front of all the customers that were in the place and there was really no need to cause such a scene as this. It was extremely unprofessional. I probably wouldn't be leaving this Google review right now if it wasn't for that last outburst as I was walking out the door. I don't feel as though we did anything to deserve that. I was already leaving and will never go back into this location again. This used to be my favorite place to go have ice cream with my family - not anymore...
Read moreI don't know what has happened with the Matthews, NC Dairy Queen but I will NEVER spend another penny in this place. The place has been dirty for a long long time but I overlooked it because I like the ice cream. In recent months, I made a habit of tipping almost 100%. Seriously, I'd get myself a blizzard and give a $5.00 tip. Then something happened where the staff has started consistently YELLING at customers. I kidd you not.. read the other reviews. This is happening alot.
A few weeks ago my niece and her family were going to meet us there but called to request that we go somewhere else. They had arrived early and before us and were literally yelled at by the staff for not closing the door fast enough.
I went in a few weeks ago, and I had barely stepped in the door without a mask, and a staff member yelled at me in a nasty tone in front of other customers because I didn't have a mask. I looked around at several customers sitting at tables eating ice cream with no mask. But they wouldn't serve me with out a mask. I can't wear masks due to severe asthma and I'm not legally required to disclose that. So, I put a napkin over my mouth and nose... and got served but with a nasty attitude.
Today I came in with my son to buy a gift card for someone's birthday. Again, I was immediately yelled at loudly in a harsh criticizing tone in front of others customers for no mask. I politely explained I have a medical condition which prevents me from wearing masks and I shouldn't have to provide private medical information. I asked if they would sell me a gift card and I got a resounding "NO" from that staff member and another staff member said she would have sold me the gift card but won't because I have a bad attitude.
Dairy Queen and its staff can go to Hell. I'll never spend my money here again and I will make sure EVERYONE on social media knows how rude and out of control this location of...
Read moreWe walked in at 9:55 and asked one of the young men that works there if we could still come in because we knew they close at 10. There were a couple of people in line in front of us, and 1 person behind us. When we got to the desk it was 10:02. Jordan, the girl at the register, was very rude. She said "Hey how are you" so fast it was "Hahowru" without a smile or anything. Then she turns to her coworker and loudly says "It sure is after 10 and we are closed. I'm about to start kicking people out. If y'all aren't done by the time I'm done with these people, I'm leaving. Sorry but we're supposed to be closed." I turned to my mom and said "wow that's interesting to say in front of customers. If I did that in front of my clients, I'd lose my job in a heartbeat." And she just stared me down. Then as the last client comes up, he smiles and says "so sorry it's after closing" and she says "oh no it's fine" but then goes to make the ice cream and is telling her coworkers again how she can't wait to leave and how people are there after closing. The only reason I'm giving any more than 1 star is because the other employees still gave good service and the ice cream is ALWAYS on point. I'm VERY disturbed by the level of attitude and...
