We visited Metro Diner for the first time yesterday for the specialty pancake big breakfast. The restaurant was clean and family-friendly; the staff were pleasant, attentive, energetic and knowledgeable about the menu. The biscuits were excellent and the chicken and waffles looked REALLY good. However, we were in a pancake mood and were displeased with our order. The pleasant waitress delivered our plates apologizing and embarrassed about the two thin, small pancakes she placed before us. She commented that they were usually large and fluffy saying she’d she’d place another order for us. The syrup poured like water. While waiting, we ate the scrambled eggs hash browns and biscuits that came with our platter. They were fine. However, the bacon was limp and undercooked. The replacement pancakes arrived- no different from the first batch! We asked to see the manager who arrived pleasant and apologetic offering they had a new cook. I suggested adding more flour to the batter or making them with the waffle batter. We noticed waffles at surrounding tables looked marvelous! She discounted the food giving us each $15 coupons off next orders. We will revisit for the chicken and waffles hoping that yesterday was just an off day for the...
Read moreI don’t like to leave bad reviews because I know the restaurant industry is having it rough right now but we have been here twice in the last two months and both times the visit was less than stellar.
We ordered chicken and waffles, an egg breakfast, an omelette breakfast , scrambled eggs and a cinnamon roll pancake. One of the waffles wasn’t done. We asked for extra onions in the omelette and eggs scrambled well. One of the waffles wasn’t done, there was no extra onions in the omelette, the eggs were t scrambled well and I didn’t get my cinnamon roll pancake. We also didn’t have any syrup at the table. We told the server about all of the issues. She offered to bring extra onions for the omelette but by the time she came back the omelette was cold so we sent it back. She said she didn’t hear me say I wanted the pancake so she apologized for that and I had to wait for my food while the rest of my family ate without me. The positive is that once I received the pancake, it was really good.
I normally try to visit a place at least twice to give a fair rating. We had the same server both times so I don’t know if it’s a server issue vs a restaurant issue but unfortunately we won’t...
Read moreFirst off- our server guy was very attentive and nice. We ordered cheese fries but I had to get it deconstructed as bacon and cheese aren't on my fav list. I ordered a red mimosa and he did a sweet tea. For mains I got a chicken pot pie and he ordered a Shepard's pot pie as they say they make their pot pies from scratch. Okie well, the chicken pp- chicken pieces weren't cooked all the way thru and super bland, chewy and the crispy top crust pie was dense and very gooey kinda uncooked in the middle. This might be a good vegetarian pot pie but definately didn't taste like chicken was cooked in it instead, put on top. His Shepard's pp- bland, not exactly cooked thru and same issue with crust. Nope, for sure won't be ordering again. Rr were clean. Will give it a try and visit again. Edited to add - we did nicely share our experience with our lovely server who said hell have the manager over in a few. That didn't happen but when he took our card to charge he did NOT charge us for the chicken pot pie. We insisted on paying for it but he won't have it. We tipped him good. The manager should've stopped by...
