MOD Pizza — Restaurant in Matthews

I love my local Mod Pizza. I eat there a lot because of the service I get from the ones who have been there since I started visiting and the new employees who are new to this store. My family and I also love the pizza and salads we purchase. It is always a great experience.

BUT

I visited my Local Mod Pizza 8/24/23 at 8:20pm. There was 2 other people in front of me at the register. Chairs were stacked in the lobby to where you couldn’t sit except in the small area in front of the line where you stand and put your pizza together . The two ladies that are in front of me were told the entire lobby is closed and had to eat outside. They questioned that statement as did I. The sticker stated you close at 9:30pm ( I looked today at the sticker it says 10pm) )yes I’m eating here again I love it) the young man said we do close at that time but we close the lobby at 8:30pm and you will have to sit outside. We both start in with “sit outside you don’t close till later” this went back and forth for a bit then the young man said fine you can sit at the table in the little are in front of the Pizza making area. I was told I could sit there also but we do close at 8:30. The ladies then asked if they could have a plate but was told they would have to eat out of the box. Same for me. Me and the ladies sat together and we decided to talk to each other and we didn’t leave until 9:30pm but we did feel the tension of “get out of the lobby” one young girl said to the young man we don’t close this early and said to her but we do close the lobby at 8:30pm.

This is a very unusual experience for me from this store. So does MOD pizza close at 8:30pm or 10pm Does the lobby close at 8:30pm daily even though the sticker on the window says 10pm?

Beyond amazing. The pizza is crispy, holds itself up, and is delicious. Order the 11". You think its a lot, but one bite... and you'll want to eat the whole thing. Plus you get unlimited topping choices?! Hello! Time to bulk up. What a great way to get protein into your body, just fully loaded "Mad Dog"pizza with extra pepperoni, sausage & chicken. You're welcome weight lifters. I dont typically like"thin" pizza as it usually tastes like a cardboard cracker with ketchup on it. NOT HERE. This bad boy is packed with flavor, super cheesy, and cooked in approx 2 minutes in a massive oven.

Negative: even though I "created my own"pizza that was OUT OF THIS WORLD, and even after pleading with the manager, he would not let me get it on the menu. I begged, pleaded, and fought with him for nearly 7 seconds to add my creation to "The Big Board". He politely told me "no" and I returned to my seat. And of course I did, I had to finish my pizza before it got cold, however, while I was up ther arguing (albeit for 7 seconds) my wife took a bite out of my pizza. Rude.

So I had to order another, and then I overdrafted on my debit card. Nothing to their fault.... just overdrafted, and that's a negative. But over drafting and paying a little extra for this pizza......

Yesterday 9/14/25 my son and I entered the restaurant and were immediately met with the nastiest look from the blonde cashier. Then she is told the other representative would be with us, because she was working on another order. No welcome, no hello, just straight to the point. Apparently the other person didn’t finish her task in time so the initial representative had to take our orders. After me stating twice that I had never been there before hoping she would explain the process to me, I ordered a cheese pizza and asked that the pineapples be placed on after baking. My son placed his order and I paid. I asked her how long it could take, to which she snapped “ well we don’t have the regular amount of people so I don’t know.” I took a chance and ran to the Harris teeter behind the building, 15 mins at most and returned to find my pizzas sitting waiting for me. My pineapples were on my son’s pizza. They offered to remake it but at that point I just wanted to get out. Probably won’t ever return. She needs to learn...
