UPDATE: The floors were updated and make a huge difference in first impressions. Service is still very personable and fabulous. I'm here on a rainy Wednesday 11am and 3 tables filled and so far she's the only server. I hope she's getting help as lunch hour rolls in. This time I got a burger deluxe. They were able to swap out the bread bun for a lettuce bun for me. The best part (besides the lettuce bun) is the burger isn't a frozen Costco patty. It's ground beef hand pressed. Juicy and cooked perfect and flavorful. Adding in the small things... I always like a place where I don't see a servers station from my table. The music is a nice variety bringing me back to my school days- K104.7 and the guest check bill was old school paper and not a computerized device taking up unnecessary room on my table. Raising up to 5 stars
ORIGINAL REVIEW: First time eating here. Cute vibe inside. Cozy. It's like both a cafe and bar with a tuscan feel to it. Service was very good, although I think there was only 1 girl working the whole place and she could have used some help. Food came out ridiculously quick. Being a recent transplant from NY.... I got a Reuben. I was really looking forward to this, but the kraut ratio was off. Like really off. I got a side of more kraut for my sandwhich to get that NY 50/50 ratio. I think I will be back to try other items. Only thing that distresses me about here is their carpeting in the entire dining area, which is the whole place.... is so black and dirty from years of grime, traffic, and usage that only on the edges can you see its original color. Things like this make me question the cleanliness of other areas such as the kitchen and food prep. Time for...
Read moreI ordered a to go order for lunch: a sandwich and salad. When I got there, my sandwich was being still being made/cooked. There is a little window where you can see the kitchen and the cooks preparing food. I witnessed the cook eating while he was cooking my food, this was hand to mouth, not washing hands in between eating. Then he takes that SAME HAND and touches my sandwich to move it to the to-go container. I couldn't believe I had just seen this happen.
The manager (I assume) came over with my to-go order and asked if I was OK. I then let him know what I had seen. He first tried to give me some excuse that they're hungry in the morning and they're just opening up...LAME. I don't care if they're hungry, they need to eat BEFORE they come in for their shift. Mind you, I put my order in when they opened which was at 10:30AM. He then asked what he could do for me. I asked him if my sandwich could be remade, he said yes. He personally remade the sandwich himself.
I then paid while he was finishing up my sandwich. No discount no nothing offered. He brought the newly made sandwich. He then said he understood my concern with the hand to mouth issue. He tried to assure me that they were clean, they had a clean kitchen...ect. I DON'T CARE, you just don't do that plus that's how diseases and illnesses are passed around. While he was telling me this I looked up and had seen the cook glaring at me through that little window.
Believe me, I will NOT be going back. Unfortunately, It looks like it might be a common practice because the cooked looked all too comfortable doing this, almost like he does it...
Read morePicadelis is a deli where the service is only topped by the food. (How's that for cheesy.) But in all seriousness I was tasked with the important job of retrieving affordable, quality food for a marching band banquet at Independence High school not to far down the road. Being a previous customer I new that the owner, George, would treat me right and give me a really fair deal. Personally I had never solo catered an event with nearly 140 people attending before. When I was checking for prices in the surrounding area he was one of the only family owned and run restaurants that actually treated me like an adult and with respect. As I had said I had never been in charge of a project this big before so it seemed a very daunting task. I recieved a more than fair deal and when I came to pick up the food on the night of the banquet everything was compact, neatly packed, and still piping hot. He even provided extra on some of the sides. Every last bit of the food was eaten and enjoyed by everyone that attended. He even offered a serving station free of charge because we had nothing to serve it with. After the banquet was finished and still to this day about a week after I am still hearing complements on the fantastic food. Every time I go there to eat just as any old patron I am treated with respect, courtesy, and dignity. I could never ask more from a restaurant and not to mention the food is always on point. (Especially the Philly...
