The pizzas were good (we ordered the da fig about it and a calzone). Everything them was as good as anything you would get on the mainland--the crust is especially noteworthy. What made them even better was the owner who stood there and walked us through the various ingredients. You can tell that he is passionate about those ingredients and takes a lot of pride in the craft of making food.

Unfortunately, this is where things broke down as the owner had to leave once we ordered our food and the person manning the truck seem to lack all manner of customer service and common sense.

It started with the fact that he used mushrooms instead of bacon in my calzone, which we didn't figure out until it was about a third of the way eaten. Not the end of the world though when I mentioned this to him, the response was: "oh yeah, I did do that. Sorry." It wasn't like they were busy or anything, so why that happened was anyone's guess...

The bigger issue was the owner had talked up his 21-hour brisket and how fantastic it was--which it wasn't (bland, no bark, sliced very thin and then essentially diced and left to sit in rendered fat). The brisket was listed as a plate dinner but I told the owner that I didn't want all of that and I only wanted to try the brisket. He said no problem and that we could get a 1/4 pound of brisket. Well apparently that wasn't communicated with the individual running the truck as he went ahead and charged me the full $25 for the plate and then gave me just the brisket.

I didn't figure out this had happened until after I had paid (which is my fault), but then when I raised it with the guy in the truck, he said they don't sell just a quarter pound and they don't just sell meat. I pointed out to him that I was just relaying what the owner said and he replied, I don't know what he told you.

So the basis of my poor review is NOT the pizzas but rather the very bad brisket and the poor...

This place is f'ing amazing!!!!! The people working there were awesome, welcoming, and incredibly friendly. I came here for the first time on Feb 4, 2025.

I ordered a pizza, garlic knots, and ribs so I would have food for later. I was really hesitant to order the ribs as I don't like ribs from most BBQ places let alone a pizza truck. I'm not exaggerating when I say that they are the best ribs I have ever had. I demolished a pound of them in about 10 minutes. They were tender, juicy, packed with flavor, and had a perfect crust on them.

The next thing I tried was the garlic knots and they were also amazing. Great flavor, nice and hot, and cooked perfectly.

Before I left I had to try the pizza so I could give him my honest feedback on everything. I ordered the primal pizza that has 5 or 6 different meats on it and he put some sweet heat sauce on half of it. The pizza was also one of the best I have ever had.

I have been all of the Unites States for work and have tried a ton of different pizza places and BBQ places. This is by far one of the best places I have ever been to.

If you're in Hawaii then you need to find your way to Maui and come give this...

We had a great dinner at Da Grateful Dough in Kahului! The pizzas we tried included Da Supreme Pepperoni, Da Kama’Aina, Da Supreme Margarita, Da Benny Blanco, and Garlic Knots.

Every bite was incredible, but the crowd favorites were Da Supreme Margarita and Da Benny Blanco—both are must-tries! The freshness of the local Maui-grown vegetables, straight from hill farms, truly elevated the flavors. Special mention to the Da Kama’Aina, where the pork was incredibly tender and flavorful.

Benoit, the chef, crafts each dish with style and love, and the care shows in every bite. One of the highlights was the purple Japanese sweet potato mixed with ricotta cheese and other house ingredients—a beautiful and unique combination that was worth the visit alone.

Each pizza is 12 inches with a perfectly crisp crust, ideal for sharing between two people. Everything is made fresh to order, and the attention to detail makes it feel like a true Italian food experience right in Maui. This spot is a 5-star gem and should definitely be on your list when...
