((Edit next day 12/14/2022)) I stopped by to return 2 shorts because I bought a smaller size. The Team member, Michelle, was extremely nice and courteous. She even explained to me to download the Costco app, as that also stores all my purchase history in case I lost my receipt. She was super helpful as she noticed I wasn't from Maui and was buying souvenirs, gifts, clothing. Michelle is a A++ Team member, and truly represents both Costco and Hawaii's value of "Ohana". Thank You. ((Original below)) Coming over from the mainland (WA/CA), I can honestly say the merchandise and pricing here are both similar and different. You will find a LOT of local items specific for the islands, and I would suggest stopping by here for clothing and gifts. [Clothing] So many beautiful Aloha shirts, shorts, swim, hybrid, wear. Priced reasonably compared to outside shops, locally made in HI. [Cookies/Candy/Sweets] Great value for multi-box of chocolate mac nuts, cookies, etc, great for gifts to take back. Lots of special holiday cookies/candies made in HI. [Pies] There is a Guava Cheesecake available. Zero in the mainland. Same pricing as mainland general pumpkin or apple pies. [Outdoor Gear] Lots of beach, boards, snorkel, hike, trail gear available. Overall, a fresh and nice stop, plus cheap gas compared to outside.

I went to Costco to start a membership since I was passing the store and have been meaning to do so. I went to sign up and that’s where my experience went south. The Costco rep who signed me up was named David. I don’t normally post things like this, or names, but this dude was insanely rude and condescending He was purposefully and painstakingly slow, and the process took about 30mins. I almost just walked out, but probably should have just gone to another rep to sign up instead. I travel a ton for work, and understand that locals just want to get their necessities and get out and not have to deal with tourists in their grocery store, but traveling 200 days/year you learn how to make minimal impacts where you go and respect the local community. But all the same, everybody is just trying to get what they need and get out. This guy either hated his job, hated tourists, or both. The unnecessary attitude was significant enough to have me write this review. Take it for what it is. Otherwise the store was great. They had the same great prices you find on the mainland. The store feature a ton of local foods which is great to see and support the community. Everybody else that I encountered was great, but this one interaction tainted the experience. Your mileage may vary.

Love this Costco! Always friendly and personable staff, amazing selection of goods, awesome wholesale and mainland prices, and consistently new products to browse around. I especially appreciate how much imported items they sell from Asia, like the kimchi made in Korea, or the slew of Japanese goods. I have to browse through all the aisles to find them, it's like a scavenger hunt. There are also a lot of great local products from Hawaii. And the Costco gas is the cheapest you will find on island. And of all the Costcos I've been to, this one manages to keep the lines short, whether it's at the checkout aisles or the gas pumps. One particularly positive experiences I've had here includes the time when I went to look for Airtags, but they were out. When I went back, maybe a month or so later, while walking through electronics, the employee saw me and said they have the Airtags in stock now. I was surprised they remembered me. I don't think I would get this level of service at any other Costco. Edit: Lowered from 5 stars to 3 stars due to poor experience returning a deli food item that had a fly in it. Did not have a good customer service experience making this return.

I'm a huge Costco fan.... been a member for the last 25 years and have made hundreds of visits on the mainland over the years. It's great having a Costco on Maui but for some reason I've had more bad experiences at this store in a dozen visits than I've had in 25 years combined on the mainland.

The whole front area is always a total mess. There is routinely 2-3 red vest (managers?) standing around doing nothing but making things worse. I recently had one physically drag my cart to a lane where the cashier was doing some kind of counting, etc. and I had to stand there for over 5 minutes waiting for him to finish. The line I had initially chosen streamed 5+ people through in the time I stood there. At the old age of 47 I'm pretty well equipped to pick a lane and don't need someone to physically reroute my cart for me, thanks. Also, when they open a new lane it's just a total free for all. In every other store in the world when a new lane is opened it's customary to at least make an attempt to grab someone from another line who has been waiting. Not at Maui Costco.... it's like a starter pistol goes off an there is a mad rush to the new line.

Finally, I phone in a pizza order and go to pick it up at the food court window that says, "Full Pizza Pickup" (seems pretty clear, right?). So, I go stand there for 3 minutes making eye contact several times with the guy behind the window. Finally, he comes over and tells me I have to get in the main line!! I inform him that had I gotten in the main line it would have been my turn several times over for how long I'd been standing there. Doesn't matter. I get scolded and sent to back of the line. btw.... if I am supposed to get in the main line, what is the purpose of the sign advertising, "full pizza pickup????" - there is a cc terminal right at the window for me to pay at.

Again, I'm a huge fan of Costco but something at this store is just a bit off compared to...

oh my goodness. We had the worst experience with an employee at this Costco. We were visiting from out of town and getting our groceries for the week to bring back to the condo we were staying in. Everything was well, we picked everything out and got in line to pay. I am the one with the Costco membership in my family so I showed my membership card and the employee asked for my ID as well, okay no big deal. Showed my ID and my mother in law was giving me her credit card to pay (mind you the groceries were for 7 of us and came to over $550). The employee was very rude and said “the person with the membership has to be the one to pay”. Okay, so I tried my credit card, and it didn’t work, so I tried it again, it didn’t work. The employee said “we don’t take Mastercard here” mind you in Canada Costco only takes Mastercard and debit. So I was like ok…. And I tried my debit card, it didn’t work. I tried again, it didn’t work (I guess my debit card is also technically a Mastercard) it was so embarrassing and anxiety inducing. So at this point my family is offering me their credit cards to pay and the employee is talking over them “THE CARD HAS TO MATCH THE NAME ON THE MEMBERSHIP CARD. THE CARD HAS TO BELONG TO YOU. NOT ANYONE ELSE.” She made such a big scene. I felt so bad for everyone behind us in line patiently waiting to pay. My family offered me cash to pay. Eventually we were able to figure it out and pay for our groceries but I don’t really understand the concept because no matter who pays for the groceries, Costco still gets the money. Plus, I pay for a membership every year and I feed my family with the food that is bought with the membership. I’m not sure why it matters where the money was coming from because at the end of the day Costco would’ve been out almost $600 if she wouldn’t have let us pay with the cash. We will not...

If I could I would have just give Maui Costco a ZERO star instead of the lowest 1 Star allowed. I had issues with my prepackaged Chicken Pad tai and Teriyaki Stir fry Udon I had purchased at Maui Costco. My family and friends had stomach problems after eating the Teriyaki Stir fry Udon and the pad tai seems to tasted weird. I reached out to Maui Costco and talked to an individual name Anthony and told him the situations. He didn’t seem care to what went on or thought it was important with the Costco products we had purchased and I told him we still have another chicken Pad Tai and Teriyaki Stir fry Udon that everyone was affraid to open and cook since what we had experienced and all he said was we can’t do anything about it. He said he would transfer me over to talk to the manager and he pretended to transfer me over to the manager but really just hung up on me. I called back and talked to customer service rep at the location and told her about the food situation and she said she’d transfer me , but didn’t say who she would transfer me to, and that call also I got hung up on too. This is the worst Costco representative service I’ve ever encountered and Maui Costco is supposed to be the premium/best Costco of all Costco. They sell you stuff and if you have a problem they’ll forget about you, shrug their shoulders and sweep you...
