First Wave Coffee — Restaurant in Maui

First Wave Coffee, getting up close & personal with this not so hidden gem. As for my first impression, it’s easy to find. Pulling into Lowe’s parking lot you’ll stumble upon the cutest little coffee trailer. From tourists to locals alike there was consistent foot traffic of both. Hanging out for an hour gave me a good idea why though. The brothers work well together & are amazing when it comes to customer service. Either talking story to the regulars or chatting about fun tourist attractions. No matter your story you’ll be greeted upon arrival & made to feel like you’re also apart of the “First Wave Coffee” fam.

Even though they’re working with a small space. I would love to see more branded items. Since their logo is cute & because of their genuine connection to their customers. I could see people wanting to help support them & rep this brand. Like with stickers, totes, reusable containers & cups etc. Possibly maybe adding another table & chairs. To either help center the trailer or just to entice more foot traffic to linger a little longer. To perhaps purchase another item to go too.

Also the food & drinks are delicious too. One of their signature drinks the Shore Break with macnut & white chocolate had a delicious smooth flavor. Even the chocolate muffin paired well together too. Plus I’m in love with my new yelp Starbucks style cup.

As for my next visit I’m in a toss up between wanting to try upcountry, matcha & chai latte.

I can’t express enough that this coffee trailer has unbelievably excellent coffee. We travelled all over Maui trying coffee over our 10 day trip and First Wave had the best cortado I’ve had in years. The espresso roast paired beautifully will the milk, and Jansen’s barista skills were masterful. The iced coffees were amazing too. They had great flavours, didn’t compromise the espresso and were not too sweet. The delicious coffee and banana bread weren’t the only thing that brought us back to the trailer a few times. It was also the chill and SUPER friendly vibes from Jansen made us feel so welcome. This is a person who clearly loves his work, his customers, and his community. He even gave us great recommendations of places to visit too! ESPRESSO & COFFEE...

First Wave Coffee is a gem. It’s operated by two brothers where the one brother started brewing coffee at home and turned it into a small coffee truck — and you can tell they put a lot of heart into it. The coffee was seriously good, but what really made it stand out was how genuine and welcoming they were.

We came by one morning, and they were super friendly and thankful for the support. We liked it so much we came back the next day, and they immediately remembered us and asked how our trip was going. You don’t get that kind of connection everywhere.
