Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken - Maui — Restaurant in Maui

It must be my lucky day, because normally when I scroll through Google looking for something to eat. It’s usually hard for me to pick something out of a line up of restaurants I’ve already tried before. So this time was easy. A name I didn’t recognize appeared on my screen. Plus since I always want to try something new. Let’s see what Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken has to offer this not so hangry yet, girl.

So far so good, their stock photos look appetizing. I already picked out a list of items I’d like to try like the: Chicken Sando, Chicken Fingers, Chicken Wrap, Loaded Fries, Salad w/ Chicken Breast as well as the Loaded Mac & Cheese. As for my first visit I chose to try the Loaded Fries with Medium heat & my fiancé chose the Chicken Bites in Mild. Just to be on the safe side when trying out new restaurants as to what they consider to be spicy. I’ll usually start in the middle & work my way up on spice. Mild or medium didn’t have that kick I was looking for so I’ll try hot on my next visit. Just not sure which item will win my pick just yet.

However I am a fan of their logo & overall atmosphere. It’s a fun restaurant to order at. They have 3 self serve kiosks to order from. The two on the outside are for ordering Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken & the one in the middle is for ordering off of the dessert menu.

Which being that I’m usually not one to order soda. I was extremely excited to have an option to order a Thai Tea Boba from here too. So there’s still plenty from their treat menu that I’m eager to try as well.

My only suggestion I can think of is maybe having different size options to choose from. Cause my loaded fries came in a massive box. It was enough to feed me for 3 meals, breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Dating tips: If you’re on a budget take your light eater here for an inexpensive date & just take your leftovers to go.

Overall my first experience was a good one & I’ll work on getting my spicy lovers to sample Angry Hot.

You order at kiosks, black ones for hangry joes, white one in the middle for Softer soft serve desserts. Your order # is announced on a loud speaker "please take the meal"

I ordered chicken sando combo+American cheese mild because I am spicy light weight. Lol Chicken was overcooked but well seasoned and crispy. Cider slaw was tasty, cut the heat nicely along with the pickle. Brioche bun was soft but didn't hold together. Fell apart while eating. Make sure you get napkins because it's messy! Waffle fries were cold ☹️ Dusted with a sweet cheesy powder, I'd prefer them without. Not sure what the dipping sauce was. seasoned cheese maybe or is that the name of the cheesy powder? 🤷🏽‍♀️ No paper straws!🙌🏼

Softer Milk soft-serve is what vanilla soft-serve would be with out vanilla extract. Sweet and creamy. $6 Cup is huge! Equivalent to a 3 scoop at Baskin Robbins. Incredible food! As a big fan of Cane's chicken, this is a cut above! Cane's is excellent and deserves big ratings for quality, but Hangry's chicken delivers on a much tastier scale. You don't need a funky sauce to get flavor as the all white juicy breast cuts are loaded with character right out of the box! If you aren't into spicy no worries.. just order it "No Heat", but if you're a lava head be warned that extra hot is gonna get you... This chicken is like from the other side of the tracks from cane's... This is my new go to for lunch! As for the prices, not bad really.. the chicken wings are pricey but they're huge and 6 will do you like 12 from pizza hut. You can call in your order if you're in a hurry. They also have a touch screen if you don't want to wait in line. Worth mentioning that Jay is the best friendly and knowledgeable counter person I've ever come across!
