Visiting Sugar Beach Bake Shop in Kihei isn't just a treat; it's an experience that tantalizes the senses and warms the heart. Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Kihei, this charming bakery is a gem that surpasses all expectations.

From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in an aroma that is both comforting and exhilarating. It's a blend of freshly baked pastries, rich coffee, and a hint of tropical paradise. The display case is a kaleidoscope of colors and textures, each item more inviting than the last.

Their pastries are nothing short of masterpieces. The lilikoi malasadas are a revelation – perfectly golden on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, with a burst of tangy, sweet lilikoi (passion fruit) that's like sunshine in every bite. The coconut cream pie, with its flaky crust and luxuriously creamy filling, topped with toasted coconut, is a love letter to the island's flavors.

But it's not just the food that makes Sugar Beach Bake Shop stand out. It's the heart and soul poured into every detail by the staff. They greet every customer with a smile that's as genuine as it is warm. Their recommendations are always spot on, making each visit unique and exciting.

And then there's the setting. Located just a stone's throw from the beach, the bakery offers a view that complements every bite with a serene, breathtaking backdrop. Enjoying a coffee and a pastry while gazing at the ocean is an experience that transcends the ordinary.

In conclusion, Sugar Beach Bake Shop is more than a bakery it's a destination, a haven of delight that embodies the spirit of Kihei. Their pastries will dance on your palate, their coffee will energize your soul, and the whole experience will leave you with memories that are as sweet as their confections. For anyone in or visiting Kihei, a stop at Sugar Beach Bake Shop isn't just recommended; it's essential. Plus they have the most...

Omg.... so good!!! EVERYTHING is sooooo good!!! The sugar cinnamon malasadas are delicious when they're fresh (still pretty good the next day actually). Their filled malasadas are fantastic. Ube filling was my hands down favorite. I enjoyed them as much or perhaps a little more than the malasadas I got at Ko restaurant in the Fairmont and probably had to pay twice a much at Ko (that being said, Ko has amazing food, well worth the price). I also had the banana bread and banana bread with streusel. My family and I tried banana bread from several different sources (sugar beach bake shop, fairmont room service, halfway to Hana, and others) side-by-side. The streusel banana bread from Sugar Beach Bake Shop was the clear unanimous winner. We also had muffins and loved them. The strawberry muffin was outstanding. While I will be checking out other bakeries on my next trip to Maui, I will definitely be stopping by Sugar Beach Bake Shop to pick up some delicious snacks and desserts. I highly recommend ordering ahead online and picking up early. The line was much longer for me later in the morning. When I went around 7 there was a fairly short line, around 8, I stood in line for...

Vanilla Malasada - 9/10 Okay despite not getting their filled malasadas this vanilla creme one was still delicious. We had our desserts in the car for a few hours and then shoved it in a fridge for a couple more and it was still AMAZING. The donut was soft and pillowy while the creme was just the right amount of sweetness. I can only imagine how good the hot fresh ones would have tasted.

Coconut Cream Pie - 9/10 I am not the biggest coconut fan BUT this pie tastes straight up like the coconut ferrero rocher. It was seriously good even after sitting out for a while.

Mango Cheesecake - 8/10 I have never had a mango cheesecake before but I do love me some cheesecake. The mango cheesecake was really good but got just a bit too sweet after a while. Since we shared all of the desserts I can only imagine how sweet it would have been if I had the whole pie to myself.

Key Lime Pie - 6/10 I’m not that big of a fan of key lime pie. It’s just too sour for me to enjoy. If you like key lime pie this might be for you, but it’s not for me.

I heard this place is super popular, but we got lucky and there wasn’t a line. Probably because we got in at 2pm and all the hot...

What a cute business name, incorporating a nearby beach and the star ingredient of desserts. While I haven't stepped foot inside, I did get to taste an infamously defunct (or so we thought) dessert that only Maui peeps would know about. DESSERT: Queen Emma Cake What in the world is a Queen Emma cake? Who is Queen Emma? The cake is 8-layers high and consists of guava cake, cream layer, lilikoi cake, cream layer, haupia cake, cream layer, guava cake again, cream layer again. Queen Emma was the wife of King Kamehameha IV. What the two have in common, I have no clue. Maybe it pays homage to her majesty's elegant dress you see in pictures? Anyway, the cake layers were true-to-taste and light. The cream layers were overwhelming to my palate so I ate around them. True, I'm not a big dessert fan but I like a little sweet every now and then. TIP: The original Queen Emma Cake was made famous by the now extinct Broke Da Mouth bakery in Kahului. OVERALL: Impressive-looking cake with a matching price tag.

Starting off my first morning in Maui good with some decadent malasadas! Personally I'm not a big fan of donuts and stuff like that but I can make an exception for some malasadas, especially here on Maui. We got a whole handful of different malasadas stuffed with ube filling, chocolate, and coconut filling, then some classic plain malasadas, and even some with a little li hing on them. I don't have much to say about the malasadas but they were pretty decent. They were really soft and light on the sweetness which I love, and light texture wise. They were a bit denser and doughy than preferred but they were still really decent! The filling in the malasadas were super creamy, delicious, and luscious. My favorite filling was definetly the ube filling because of the beautiful purple color, plus the creaminess , lightnesss, and sweetness of the ube. Overall, pretty decent, and a really nice start to my vacation in Maui!
