My sister had a destination wedding in Maui and was so excited about the cake she booked with Maui Wedding Cakes (who came highly recommended by her venue). I would love to be able to leave a positive review for a local company but sadly I cannot. When we arrived at the cocktail hour at 6 pm, the cake was not there. Assuming Casey was simply running a few minutes late, I called him to check in. At this point he started swearing (not at me, but was clearly panicked) and informed me that he had not saved the flavors or design in the system that they chose for their cake during their tasting a few days prior. At this point I had to tell him how many tiers the cake was supposed to have, what flavor each tier would be, and what the decor should be. Although the cake was not made, Casey assured me it could be delivered in an hour (7 pm). I was very polite and understanding of the situation, and was satisfied with this response since the cake was scheduled to be cut and served at 7:30 pm. However, at 7:15 the venue still hadnāt received the cake. I called again to check in, was once again very polite, and Casey let me know he was 15 min away. Once again, at 7:35 pm the cake had still not been delivered. For the 3rd time, I called Casey. Casey told me he was 2 minutes away. Because I had been promised multiple timeframes at this point I clarified his ETA and let him know that if we did not receive the cake by then we would need to make other arrangements. I never raised my voice, but Casey responded by yelling that he would be there and hung up on me. The cake was finally delivered at 8 pm (well after the 5:30 pm delivery time my sister had confirmed with him 3 times before the wedding). After the wedding, my sister reached out to ask for a partial refund. She did not receive a response for over a week so she posted a review here. Her review was much more polite and kind than it could have been considering the situation. After her review was posted, Casey finally responded to her email. I have truthfully never read a more condescending, rude, and unprofessional email from a business before. He denied that anything went wrong and claimed I blew it way out of proportion (even though we have the call logs and email correspondence as evidence for our version of events). He offered a 25% refund for the āstressā. When my sister sent him the screenshots of the call logs and email correspondence he never responded and deposited a 10% refund. We never received an apology or any accountability for what occurred.
I write this review because as a fellow bride, I would see Caseyās high reviews on wedding websites and book him with confidence. And hopefully those who do book with him have a phenomenal experience. But as a fellow bride I want to know the character of my vendors. Mistakes will inevitably happen on the wedding day, but itās how you respond to them that build your business and clients trust. I would never recommend Casey because I donāt think anyone deserves to be treated the way my sister...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI hate to write this review, because I really wanted to write a good one. I loved working with Casey for the entirety of planning my wedding. He was good vibes, the booking/planning were simple, and I was really excited for our wedding cake. We had a cake tasting appointment a few days before our wedding to finalize the flavor/filling we wanted. The tasting was great and we texted Casey the final flavors we wanted, just like he instructed us to do so. We confirmed the details of our wedding with him multiple times including a final confirmation a month before the wedding and again a week before the wedding.
Casey let me know in those final confirmations that our wedding cake would be delivered to the venue in the morning so it could sit in their fridge until the evening when it was time to pull out for pictures/cutting. When we arrived for our reception (an hour before the cake was supposed to be pulled out of the fridge for photos) the venue let me know that our cake had not been delivered yet. My sister had to frantically call Casey over and over during our reception. Casey picked up and immediately started cursing repeatedly because he forgot to make our wedding cake.
Not only did he forget and not make the cake, he didn't even know what flavors we wanted or what the design was supposed to be. It was extremely unprofessional and my sister had to give him all of that information, when we had already confirmed with him multiple times with advanced notice. Casey told my sister on the phone that the cake would be there in an hour. An hour went by, the cake was not delivered. After calling again, he said it would be there in 30 minutes. It still was not delivered. She called again, he said he was on his way. She had to ask if he was really on his way or just giving BS timelines at that point. Finally, hours later, a cake was delivered. But it was way past our timeline of when we wanted to cut the cake (at sunset). We had to cut the cake in the dark while the bugs were out and biting us/getting on the cake.
The interactions with my sister were extremely unprofessional with him swearing at her and not delivering the cake when he promised it would be there (multiple times). Although I am grateful he was able to still deliver a cake within such short notice, I am disappointed with the unprofessionalism. There was no apology ever given to me and when I emailed Casey after the wedding asking for a partial refund, Casey did not respond. Further demonstrating a lack of professionalism. I am very understanding that mistakes happen. I wish I could write a good review saying despite the mistake, Casey was able to pull through in a professional way. However, he swore repeatedly at my sister, did not apologize or say a word after to me or my husband for the mishap, and did not respond to my email after the event. He should have offered us a partial refund. We are very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've never actually physically been to this bakery, but I was able to try their mango and blueberry scones from the local farms market.
Honestly speaking, the scones were the BEST scones I have EVER had. Scones are my absolute favorite dessert/ pastry and itās so difficult to find them eggless and delicious. I bought the blueberry and mango scones from Maui Farmers Market, but I wish I had bought more of them and bought them home! Casey is a very talented baker.
I spontaneously called the farmers market to tell them that I loved their scones and they told me that they get it from this bakery. So I ended up calling the bakery and Casey picked up. I told him how much I loved his scones and asked if they shipped to the mainland (hopefully they do soon!).
The scones were balanced, crumbly but moist and evenly sweet and buttery (pure perfection)!
Thank you, Casey, for being so kind and generous on the phone and via email - really made my...
