Jacky's Depot — Restaurant in Maumee

I've mostly enjoyed this place over the past few years (Minus a few disappointing flavors here and there. And, one time where a worker complained to another worker after I paid via card about not receiving a tip which was probably 2 years ago now.) But, recently I had a pretty lame experience with a milkshake that was not what I ordered (And, honestly, the milkshakes this year have just been bad compared to last year for some reason. Every one I've had for the past few months has been runny with way more milk than ice cream. And, they never even come close to filling the container to the top. It's always 2 or 3 inches from the lid.) and had the staff argue back with me over messenger for days that I was wrong and they couldn't have possibly made a mistake instead of simply just remaking it for me.

They begrudgingly said they'd fix it a week later while also reminding me that they were confident the staff could never have done wrong and that my taste buds and senses must just be off I guess? They were so weird about it that I asked for them to not even bother with sending a certificate for a replacement as I just didn't want to come back again. I know a lot of people go here for gluten free and vegan options, but I'd highly recommend going elsewhere if you're able to. There are plenty of ice cream places just as good if not better elsewhere, that don't have a combative, defensive staff over something so simple and small. Today my boyfriend and I came for ice cream for a second time and it was just an awful experience. The first time we came here, we came to get vegan ice cream because it is one of the few places that offer vegan sweets and we loved it so much that we wanted to come back, well let me tell you that it will be our last. We had ordered a large vegan shake that was not even 1/2 the cup full, gave it back and got it remade which for the second time gave us just COCONUT MILK, with hardly any icecream that wasnt mixed together like it wasnt even blended. We gave it back to her and she had a very rude attitude, we are very easy going people we just wanted what we ordered considering it was $7. I had high hopes of making this little ice cream shop our new desserts go to, but the people working were unpleasant and need to work on their customer service. If they are unable to make a half decent milk shake it should be removed...

Why does every flavor of hand-scooped ice cream taste like cinnamon spice? I grew up in Maumee and we only ever came to this place a couple times as a kid, and as an adult I've come here three times and every time I give it a try again, cinnamon spice flavor. I thought maybe my taste buds were off as a kid, but no. This trip, we ordered a vanilla, a butter pecan and a chocolate and all tasted like cinnamon spice. My toddler even told me his (the vanilla) tasted funny. The butter pecan I got hardly had any bits of pecans and the bits that were in there were tiny. The "vanilla" was smooth, but my "butter pecan" tasted old and had ice crystals in it. While their portions are huge, it does not taste good. So disappointed. I'd honestly rather get ice cream at the grocery store than this. If you want the best hand-scooped ice cream around, go to Handel's. It's a bit further, but it's always worth it. You won't be...
